I do not play Tyranids so I therefore dont understand the army very well but my friend wants to start collecting/playing them and so for their birthday I've bought them a codex, 8 termagaunts, 7 spore mines and 5 genestealers to start off with but also would like to write them a 500pt army list that would be easy to understand and use and effective in games.

Anyone fancy giving me some advice?
