Just got my.ticket through and there was no sign of the mini, so I called gw who told me they're no longer included - they're to be purchased separately for £12 on the day (!)

I wasn't aware of this before buying the ticket and, honestly, feel more than a little cheated.

Did anyone.else spot anything that said this that I missed?
I said to the service guy that they didn't state that on their adverts, and that I had expected it to be included as it has been for the past however many years. He merely said "but nor did we say it IS included!"

*shocked expression*

Yeah, it's known for a few months and was lamented in the original thread that discussed the mini in question. If you missed that thread, though, I could see how you wouldn't know given the almost 20 year history it is screwing up.

I would have called him out on the last bit he said. It has been known but it is easy to miss with all else thats going on with GW.
GD used to be worth it but recently not so much and after the cluster.... of last year well this year certainly aint worth it.
I am hopeful GW turn it around though

Seriously? That sucks... when was it announced? I keep an eye on the blogs, subscribe to their monthly catalogue... honestly I'm pretty shocked I missed it...!

I did call him out on it, said they can't expect to mislead their customers that way, the way I see it the ticket price shouldbe dropped to £18 (haha, riiiiight, that'll happen). Can someone point me to the original thread?

I guess this is null and void if its already been discussed then!

They haven't misled anyone. The GD ticket page makes no mention of the GD mini at all.

My point was more that it had been included in previous years, and that was still my expectation. Imo they should have stated that the model was no longer included. As they didn't, I I was mislead in to believing that it would still be included in the ticket price. Now I have to pay an extra £12 for it.

Dakka search (now that it actually works) is your friend. I typed in "games day ticket" and this was the first thread that popped up.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/436358.page

I believe I actually saw it mentioned in the thread that detailed the mini in question, though. All it would have taken to miss the new sadly is not being online for a few days; unfortunately, it's not in GW's best interest to advertise bad news especially when they don't bother to advertise the good stuff outside of White Dwarf.

Your expectations aren't GW's responsibility, though. It's not unreasonable for them to expect that people will take the time to check what they are actually paying for before handing over money.

You weren't misled, you simply didn't check. There is no requirement for GW to tell you what isn't included in your ticket price.

Yup, if it doesn't say "you will get this model included in your ticket price" or implied it in any way then it's not misleading.

They've only given away the GD model for a few years anyway(5-6?) it was always extra before that.

The only gamesdays I've gone to were about a dozen years ago and the ticket included a coupon for the mini.

It's always been separate over here. Although I think that may have changed with the resurrected GD last year... can't remember, as I never really bothered looking at it too closely after seeing the ticket price.

I disagree, it is their responsibility to manage my expectations, and I'll argue that point til the cows come home, go out for a stroll and come back again a week later. Not to be arguementative, but from how I expect to be treated as a customer.

I'm 26, I left college and got in to sales account management in b2b and later b2c. Our customers were always fully aware of exactly what their cash got them; if we cancelled a bundled product line, the customer was made aware at the point that they ordered it, or by newsletter.

GW provided a complimentary / included-in-the-price model, they have now opted not to include that model. As a customer I expected to receive that as part of the ticket price, if they decide to change that then they need to advise their customers so that they're aware they're not getting as much value for money as they previously were (yes, I know it's a bigger expo this year, though they needed to do that following last years debacle!)

I've been to 2 games days; 1 last year and 1 in the early 2000's when the emperors champion was the complimentary model. As Warboss said, I had too had a ticket stub for the GD mini. so my prior experiences that I base my expectations on are £30 for a ticket.

I don't understand why you guys think it's OK for GW to change their policy on this without letting folk know before they hand cash over

I missed it, I wasn't keeping an eye on those threads.

My responses are solely to the points raised in this thread.

I wonder if the ghosts of Livingstone and Jackson visit Ebenezer Kirby each Christmas and rattle their chains in an effort to make him change his ways...?

I suspect he just pulls his Wells doll close and continues to roll about in his finecast fourposter bed with it's soft mattress made from the pages of unsold White Dwarf magazines.

"Tonight Kirby, you shall be visited by three ghosts! GW Past, as portrayed by Rick Priestly in a long white gown, GW Present as portrayed by John Blanche, munching a turkey leg, with a wreath crown... and the ghost of Christmas future, as portrayed by Carter Burke off of 'My Two Dads' and the Weyland Yutani Corporation... I'm ok with it because they did let everyone know. The page you go to before paying for your ticket makes no mention of it including the miniature... so there is no logical reason to assume it does. In previous years when the miniature has been included, it specifically said so.

Sure, it would have been more transparent if they had specifically said 'And by the way, the ticket doesn't include the miniatute'... but it's by no means necessary, or misleading of them not to do so. There are a million things that aren't included in the cost of a GW ticket... they just tell you what your money does buy, not what it doesn't.

You've got to admit though, it wouldn't take much, or hurt them to say "this is the GD miniature, it will be available on the day for £12".

I can't comment on whether or not they've stated included / not in previous years, I can't find anything online to say.

Anyway, this threads run its course.

Same, though I believe the model was still separate in this case.

Model was a separate purchase in 2011. Don't know about before that.

This is not a fair comparison.
You're talking about your customers ordering bundled products which were no longer available. All GW sold was a ticket. It's not their fault you expected more than they were offering.
Contrary to your opinion, it's not THEIR responsibility to manage your expectations. It's yours. It's their responsibility to represent themselves honestly (which they have).

I'm no GW fan, for the record. In fact, I'm giving up on buying any GW models @ retail outlets ever again (after buying a couple of the new Ork fliers, that is), due to the price increases. So, it's strange for me to be on THIS side of the GW fence. In this instance, however, I just can't see how someone's mistaken presumption about what WILL happen, based solely on past happenings, is GW's fault.

This won't come as a surprise to anyone, but I disagree (shock, I know...). My point was that my customers were always aware at the time of ordering exactly what they were getting for their money. If they needed to pay for a system card that was previously included in the bundle, or a complimentary headset that they would use as a selling point for their customers, they would know before I took their money.

Well, a man's gotta be honest. Right? LOL
I love those fliers. I'll buy 2 or 3. After that, though, the only money they'll get (indirectly, via retailers ONLY) from me is for Codices. All my models will be non-GW. I don't play in their tournaments, so I don't care what they think.

I forgive you for disagreeing with me.
; ) LOL

In seriousness, though, I don't see that it's a GW problem that you didn't know what you were ordering. I think it's good that you made sire to point those things out, but I don't see it as a RESPONSIBILITY to do so, provided there's nothing indicating that the model MIGHT be included this time.

It's been this way for at least a few years, it wasn't included for GD Baltimore in 2009.
