Hey all

I was thinking about converting Istabella Von Castein into a female Commisar for my Imperial Guard army.
Now i'm used to converting normal plastic models heavily as well as metal models, however finecast is something new to me in regards to shaping.
My question is what should I expect and be prepared for when converting a finecast?
I noticed from painting and glueing finecasts that the resin is a hell of a lot more softer than normal plastic so would filing a finecast be a huge no or at least does it require a certain level of care (Istabella's armour I want to file to reduce the spikeyness).

On a seperate note how does that liquid greenstuff stand up when compared to the normal stuff? I heard a friend say that it flakes like mad which is a shame as I wanted to use it to fill in the tears on her robes.

Finecast is very light and is much easier to cut than plastic, and so conversions are easy. However, be gentle with it or you could fluff it up

And Liquid Green Stuff is truly wonderful. It doesn't flake, that might be a myth.

The Finecast medals are actually really easy to use in conversions, the material is soft enough to cut through with a relative ease and light enough that pinning is not always strictly necessary in addition to glueing.

In adition the model in question comes in sufficiently robust pieces that she is really easy to convert, the main body being in one solid lump with the limbs separate. LGS itself is really useful for very small gaps and smoothing out any blemishes in actual green stuff, I haven't had any experience with it flaking personally. I think the tears in her robes may be a little large to fill using liquid green stuff tho.
