Every SM player knows who Pedro is, but for those who also know Lias Issadon, a Badab War character. Which is better for my Loyalist Alpha Legion? What's your opinion? Is there a better character for this army? Go ahead and throw your opinion in!

Here's my army.

one of the main points (if not THE main point) of pedro is that he makes Sternguard scroing. if you're not takign them then takign pedro may nto be the best decision.

What does the other character actually bring the the fight in terms of special rules/list support?

Without quoting points, Pedro gives you

S4, Ap4 Assault 4 Storm Bolter
Power Fist (not master crafted)
Stubborn to replace ATSKNF
Extar attack to units in 6" (?)
makes Sternguard scoring.
I'm assuming he has a 3+/4++ save (been a while since i picked up a SM 'dex)

Actually, what book is the other guy in so i can have a look? - Found him.

Ok, the other guys gives you:

Stealth rather than ATSKNF
-1 modifier on enemy reserve rolls
a 30" Assault 2/heavy 4 Stergaurd ammo boltgun
An ability to "assassinate" an eney before turn one, after scout moves.

Fluff and rules wise i would think the second guy goes better with Alpha Legion.

Seems like a certainly fair reasoning. Do you think Lias would work with this army set up I have?

This is what Lias does. He's cheaper than Kantor too.

Looking at your list you are VERY mech heavy, which doesn't striek me as very Alpha legion-y.

Neither of these HW choices are really doign anythgin for you TBH.

You might be better off, list-wise taing a MoTF or soemone that can do some good for your Mech.

This^

From a list Perspective, Captain Tarnus Vale of the Fire Angels probably would work better to give your rhinos extra armour and your marines tank hunters. maybe upgrade one rhino to a razorback and stick him in it to give the tank tank hunters with an assault cannon or heavy bolter.

From a fluff perspective, since you're doing Alpha Legion, Maybe take Ahazra Redth of the Mantis Legion? He gives all non-terminator INFANTRY infiltrate and can give his unit a night fight shroud.

Yeah, I wasn't going very fluffy with it, I mostly just liked the concept of the colors on my loyalist marines. Maybe I'll change up the colors later and make a homebrew chapter.

Vale was another option I was thinking of taking. An army like this with Tank Hunters is a terrifying concept, especially with my TL Autocannon Venerables.

I most likely will do a few more fluffy things (Maybe) later on, but this is the initial list I wanted.

I have to disappoint you on that. Dreads, and all of our vehicles, do not have chapter tactics to begin with. Therefore they do not get the cool rules when an HQ changes that rule to something else.

Oops! Forgot that, and now I feel stupid! Well, least I have planned to add Terminators into this list later on.

We had a guy two months ago show up with a list consisting of Vale and "as many assault cannon razorbacks as I could fit". He was kinda saddened at that.

Termininators however could wreck a fair amount.

Now as much as I love Lias for a counts as raven guard army, he has to be the only chapter master (or captain level) to ever leave his invuln save onboard the battle barge.

That's a bummer for that guy.

Good thing I want a squad!

Oh wow, didn't notice that he didn't have an invul save!

I really was hoping that his iron halo was going to FAQ'ed, but since the FAQ for IA:11 is already up, I doubt they will be doing one for IA: 9 or 10. Admititally, aside from this there are many real mistakes to cover.

Just make sure you remember the long range on his gun and keep him with buddies. CC is where The Grim dies quickly.

Eh, there're always things that can be tidied up.

Okay, I'll do that if I run him.

Any other special Imperial Armor characters you would suggest for this army? This army will get bigger, as I have already planned adding terminators, and I'm still deciding on my Fast Attack options, but I hope to maybe get up to 3000pts with this army, maybe even more!

For that list, not to sure.

For just some fun though:

A fun one is using both Tyberos the Red Wake and Captain Mordaci Blatylock. One squad of lightning assaulters as troops, and all the others are scoring. Spam termies in raiders, 2 melta command squads in drop pods, and a squad of close combat scounts in a land speeder storm to confuse people. Yes, Tyberos is a chapter master that lets you take Honour or command squads.

The other fun one Knight Captain Elam Courbray. Twin linked flamers, assault and vanguard squads score. and you can take a command squad with jumppacks. Again, throw in some scouts to sit in the back, and rush everything else forward.

I thought about adding Tyberos to this army for some CC counterpunch, but didn't see too many benefits with him.

Those do sound like funny set up though! Maybe I'll try them in a proxied battle with my friend
