I think the problem you will have with this list is the lack of troops. You have a very expensive HQ and heavy support choice which I think will hurt you in objective games. On the other hand, having those two huge, tough units may surprise people at a 1000 points. Certian types of Orks, I imagine, might really struggle with this.
My thought would be to drop either the hive tyrant squad or the tyrannofex for more troops. Even if you keep both, I would definitely drop one of the tyrant guard given the game size. Perhaps you could use the points to make two squads of 2 hive guard allowing you to bust more transports.

Thanks Doombiscuit. Might leave Dave the Tyrant for bigger games, perhaps swap him for a Tervigon and some Warriors. I feel the crippling weakness is the lack of Synapse, so that should help. Not sure. I could even have 2 Tervigons, but that would be crazy. Maybe a Warrior Prime and some Warriors?

I think a warrior prime and warriors would probably be a good swap for the tyrant and his bodyguard at this points level. They are tough to shift off objectives and can do a lot of damage as long you keep them safe from s8 weaponry.
I would go for a tervigon over a tyrannofex and use the points you save to boost your gaunt mobs or get more hive guard. That would also give you two durable synapse units which should be enough for 1000 points. I am told though that tervigons can be better in pairs.

Hmm. I agree a Tervigon would be a good investment, but I don't think I should ditch the Tyrannofex for it. The Tyrannofex is my main weapon against heavier vehicles, like Battlewagons, which Hive Guard just aren't going to kill. More Hive Guard would be good, but...Hmm. Maybe Zoanthropes would be a wise choice?

I'm still saying drop the Tervigon and Hive tyrant, run dual Tervigons and get one more Hive guard and split the unit up into two squads of two.
3 Synapse creatures lots of AT and a shed loads of gaunts.

Hmm. This is truly quite a tricky one. I was thinking, perhaps, dropping the Hive Tyrant and his Guard for a Tervigon and another brood of 20 Venomgaunts (Hormies with Toxin Sacs). Perhaps. Or like you say I could replace the Hive Tyrant and Guard for 2 Tervigons, but otherwise leave the list unchanged. I hear what you say about the Hive Guard, but the Tyrannofex seems too good a deathstar to throw away.
