Dystopian Wars has taken off at the LGS and that's cool.
Interestingly, the first release of Uncharted Seas was bought up within a week of arriving at the same store BUT...nobody ever played/plays it.

I bought a couple of fleets and the rules and tried to get it going but despite all the fleet boxes being bought out nobody would play.
After 3-4 times of bringing it out to demo, I hung it up. Over the years I've been the game evangelist and it gets tiring talking folks into trying something that ain't 40k or now HordesMachine (rolls better than Warma-Hordes IMO).

How Is Uncharted Seas doing where you play?

Why, you must be a fellow Eagle & Empire alumnus (this is Andy)! It is kind of funny, but when I saw the thread title I immediately thought "Hey, that's what they called it at my old store!"

So far, it seems like Uncharted Seas is also not overly popular up here in Connecticut. I'm curious to see if the release of the fancy new hardback rulebook will change any of that.

Andy,

Good to hear from you. Your evangelism for DW has paid off for E&E. Folks are out playing it just about every Friday (or is it Thursday?) evening.
Several younger teens throwing down their models as well as adults (most of us cranky oldsters are playing Flames of War).

Scott was the one who coined Unplayed Seas. He has a rule where he won't be a game unless he'd seen it played 3 times at the LGS first.
I managed to demo it 2 times before I got the message that nobody wanted to see it.

Someone was complimenting you today on your persistence, coming with your stuff and sitting when nobody showed or would agree to play.
Well done

Daron

I'm glad the game is continuing on without me! . Hopefully I'll be able to make it down for a visit sometime this summer. I'd love to catch up with you guys.

All the Spartan games went over at my LGS like a lead balloon. The owner ended up discounting the Uncharted Seas stuff out just to clear the shelves. After getting burned on that he didn't even want to stock Firestorm Armada or Dystopian Wars.

Mostly, the players who were interested in Uncharted Seas were all already playing Warhammer Fantasy and so have already committed their parent's money to that.

You can't fix stupid.

That's a shame...it was pretty much the same stroy at E&E. At that point, the only recourse is for a few dedicated players to play the game consistently enough to attract interest again.

Our LGS had a big bump of players for Uncharted, and I managed to get about 3 or 4 games in (Iron Dwarves, woot!). I even made a set of custom modular terrain for it that got used once...

And then it suddenly died. One of the guys who was very excited about playing it left town, his friend stopped playing it after he left, and it kinda petered out. Some of the guys play Dystopian Wars off and on, but it's mainly WMH and 40K with the occasional Fantasy or Infinity for taste.

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.
