Hello dakka dakka. so As i have been building my army i have just been letting them sit on my desk to display but now after some of the models have been sitting for about 2 months i noticed them collecting dust. for fear of my models getting ruined i placed them in one of the GW carrying cases. The thing is i still want my army on display SO what i want to ask is this.

Whats a good affordable display case.

im not looking for something super fancy and big just something with 2 shelfs and could sit on a desk, almost like a basketball display case with 2 shelfs.

I need it to hold a 2k army which contains the following

2 tac squads
2 rhinos
1 scout squad
2 term squad
a dreadnought
3 vindicators
1 land raider

Possibly 3 of the new flyer models

The big thing i want to do is just keep it dust free, if need be i can work with a glass case then use weather stripping on it.

Please help me dakka dakka

To many unpainted models to count.

Ikea have a variety of stuff like this.

One thing to consider though - once you start playing with your army you may find that taking them out of the display space and putting them into the transport case and then out of the transport case and back into the display case every time you play becomes a chore and they end up living in the transport case...

Look up the IKEA Detolf. It appears to be the first, last, and only word in affordable display cases. Even without weather stripping it seems to do an excellent job keeping minis dust free.

As for finding it to be a chore...I guess moving them is a chore, but for me living in a transport case is worse. Out of site, out of mind. I play more, paint more, and just generally enjoy the hobby more with them in a case.

Besides, since they are in my work office my minis are now a tax write off.

I would put serious thought to cruising some yard sales. You may not find EXACTLY what you want but I've seen display cases meant for sports memorabilia, dolls, plates etc. go for very good prices often 40-60 dollars. I got mine for free, but I also bought a bedroom set. It was tagged for 60. It has 5 shelves and lights and each shelf can hold somewhere between 1000-1500pts or more. Failing that the IKEA set is pretty common with good reviews.
