Subject: Gamesday 2012 Ticket worth purchasing?

Not entirely sure this is the place to post this question, however, I have been searching the internet in attempts to find out what the benefit is to purchasing the Gamesday 2012 ticket. The only answer I have received so far is that the ticket entitles the wearer to participate in the events, which events are they specifically talking about?

I'm afraid it's not. News and Rumours is for actual news and rumours rather than questions.

There is no reason to go to Games Day, ever. Adepticon is a far better choice of event.

Have to agree here. The Games Day events were getting better these last 3 years under Ed Spettigue. With him gone, I doubt we see anything this year we haven't seen before, and an overall worsening of quality. I did huge displays these last 3 years at Baltimore and Chicago. I was usually out of pocket a few thousand dollars, plus 100's of hours of work, from a dozen people. Ed helped us out with some of the models we needed, and for Chicago, some of the travel expenses.
This year I was told we'd all get in for free, and t-shirts. Just not happening. If it was baltimore, I might run down for the day with a small table and run a game. Spending several grand to build tables and go to Chicago isn't worth it for a T-Shirt.). Let alone convincing other people it would be worth all the time and labor. Better off going to Adepticon, which is what we did.

A lot of the "games day tables" are as Mikhaila hinted actually not GW oriented. A significant amount of them are made by gaming clubs in the geographical area, and mostly on their own dime. It spells volumes to the gaming clubs motivation, determination, and loyalty to a game they love. If you have never seen some of Showcases displays you should google them, or search the forums here.
To the OP: if you are considering Gamesday, my suggestion would be to consider waiting at least a year. GW has interests zoned in on the release of the new 40k BRB, and on other things. I'd suggest going to one of the Indy GT's, or Regional events. Are you local to Philadelphia? Mikhaila's events are pretty sweet. He is well know for good hospitality, food, and swag. Oh and there's also the gamers there to

I went to last years GD in Chicago. It was okay for the price of the ticket but not for the air fair. This year I'll stop in to FW at PAX in Seattle since I live two blocks away from the convention center. Much cheaper and a hell of a lot more interesting.

Well, mine come home to my store and we play on them.) Or break them up into a million bitz, and reconstruct them into conventional scenery.
