Got me 2 Scythes and after assembling the first 'I had a few pieces left...
Specifically parts 25 and 26 , twice. So why is something left unused in a newly released kit?
You get those parts 6x and the manual clearly uses only 2x of them.
Its already a pretty easy to assemble kit and given its only 2 sprues and numbers go just up to 33.
Extra bits of the 'bling' type I wouldn't mind. But those left? Tubes who connect the weapon to the hull...

So anyone out there who built a scythe and used everything?

Ummm.... Ive put together 4 (and magged the weapon/portal) and had no pieces left....
there are two tubes for the Death Ray (have couplings halfway) and two tubes for the portal (no couplings) Perhaps this is your "extra" part.

So where did you mount what I still have on sprue?

Death ray has tubes ( N° 05 and 06 ).
Portal has tubes ( N° 25 and 26 ).
Somehow there are 3x N25 and 3x N26. These tubes fit into the underside of the hull at the same point as the N 5+6.
Can't find anything in the manual where more than 2 per weapon are used.

I have heard speculation that there could be an extra sprue coming out for it. no evidence to suggest this other than odd bits on the model that look like they should have parts added, and no idea what the sprue could actually contain, but it's an interesting notion...

Another variant? I'd like to think thats not unwelcome.
A third sprue could easily add another configuration of weapons, having a few parts already may hint its a case where the big hull pieces took so much space that some smaller bits had to be spread across all sprues they had planned to have.

GW provides pics of their sprues.

On the left, you will see 8 tubes and actually the scythe kit needs 4 to build every option.
Just wondering why I got these left as I thought I had enough experience to build plastic kits without missing to add parts. I'd even go so far to say the scythes are a pleasure to assemble.
The weapons for example are swappable and no shared parts and thus you have both, the night and the doom scythe. The only drawback, as usual, the price...

A friend of mine had the same problem. Too many tubes of one kind. Either a design error, or Stickmonkey is right about a third necron flyer using one of the current sprues.
