So, I just purchased the book for Hell Dorado (and Infinity), mostly due to GW's awesome price policies. What sort of game is Hell Dorado? Is it in the scale of 40k, or DnD (as far as number of minis are concerned)? How quick can a game be played, and conversely, how long do "big" games take to play?

Hell Dorado is a small scale skirmish game. The standard game size is 200pts, for that you can expect to field 8 to 12 models usually. Games take an hour or two to play generally. Theres nothing stopping you playing bigger games but its not a system you would want to use for large battles, leave that to 40k and like.

Your Captain and some of your "hero" troops give you a pool of command points you use throughout the battle to activate buffs and special attacks/abilities. The game becomes incredibly tactical as both players try to outsmart and out maneuver, waiting for the right moment to burn through command points.

A lot of the scenarios have a 4 turn limit, it may not sound like a lot but it works. Games are played on a 30inch by 30inch battlefield, so you dont need a big table to play.

It really is a fun and relatively inexpensive game.

Are the turns set up similar to 40k or more like a DnD game? (ie. IGOUGO, or model 1 goes, model 2 goes, etc.)

The game works on a IGOUGO basis with the player who has dominance for that turn activating a model then your opponent activates one. There are two universal orders all captains can give Vae Victis (boost combat dice) and Vae Soli, which you can use to activate two units in a row.

So, got the rule book in the mail the other day, and after reading it... Wow!... I thought some of the stuff in 40k was complicated, but this is just astounding.

If I can get some games in with this system, I definitely think that theres almost no way to make this game get stale (unlike other games)
