Hi,

Just wondering which tweaks I should make to a 1000pts semi-competitive ork foot slog.
Here it is:

HQ
Warboss
P/K, T/L shoota, attack squig, cybork, eavy armour, BP

Elites
6 Nobz
1 P/K, shoota-skorcha, Waagh! Banner, painboy, cyborks
225pts

11 Lootas
With mek
170pts

Troops
20 boyz
2 big shootas, P/K Nob
170pts

20 boyz
2 big shootas, P/K Nob
170pts

11 Grotz
Runtherd, grabba stikk
43pts

Fast attack
1 deffkopta
P/K, t/l Rokkits
70pts

1 deffkopta
t/l Rokkits
45pts

Total: Around 1000pts

Basically, Grotz can be reserves as objective holders or meat shields for the boyz, Deffkoptas can scout and tankbust and the lootas pop transports and can be split into 2 squads if need.

Comments?

Pretty sure you can make the Nobs troops because of the warboss, which i would recommend as they now become scoring

No reason to have a Mek in with Lootas as he will not be mobile and one KMB isn't really worth it when you can have another deffgun.

Move those Nobz to Troops section (Warboss makes them troops). Move the bosspole from the warboss to an unequipped nob. This gives you perfect wound allocation trickery for no more points. My main advice, however, would be to drop the Warboss and Nobs and go with a Big Mek with a KFF and some Killa Kans, as you don't really have the number of boyz for a Green Tide list and you're not going for a Trukk list. Kan Walls are quite effective.

I've heard 19 is the magic number for grots. Gives them the max for just one Runtherd and 5 need to die for a morale test. Currently only 3 need to die and they're off to the races.

If you're only running 20 boyz a bosspole should be on the nobs. Also, are you going Shootaz or Sluggaz?

More boyz.
The nobs are tricky as they foot slog the enemy can skirt around them, or at least counter them. As such I would greatly prefer more boyz for the points.

Otherwise a handsome list

All the boys are sluggas.

With the footslogging boss and retinue, I was thinking cutting a deffkopta and giving them a trukk?

Thanks for the comments guys! keep it up!

Hey, welcome to the WWWAAAAAGGGHHH!

I like the list, but I can give you some things to think about. First and for most, it doesn't matter what you bring in your list, win or lose orks are incredibly fun to play, and never ever be afraid to bring anything you want to the table. This game is all about experimenting and making an army that you like.

Now to the tactical stuff. I don't disagree bringing foot soothing nobz. Keep in mind though that a smart opponent is going to be sacred of them and either try to take thwm out right away or avoid them. Either one you could use to your advantage. They can do an incredible amount of damage but like stated before boys are the back bone of any waagghh. I would also think about running them without the boss. They can do plenty on their own, and it will spread the threat of your units a bit so your opponent will have to decide if he's more scared of a few nobz, or if the 19 boys and a boss are more of a thret. Chances are they'll still choose the nobz but the boss will give your boyz squad a bit more kick.

The warboss should give his boss pole to the nob of what ever kinky he joins. Since he is an independant character, If he gets into cc he can be targeted and there goes your boss pole. That way they either have to choose ( you see a pattern here?) to take out the ba warboss or go for the boyz qnd hope they run.

Most ork list work well with compleatly mechanized build or completely foot soldier build. If you throw a trukk in their with av 10 all over you better believe your opponents going to be aiming for it from turn 1 and most likely POP it on the same turn. With as low of amor that frills have it is always better to
run them in numbers.

Hope thes helps you a bit.

I agree with the above, more boyz or grotz, or more trukks. either way you shouldn't be giving them a standout target. Instead provide your opponent with a target rich environment, meaning they'll either split their fire and do little to all your units, or concentrate doing a lot of damage to one unit, giving the rest free reign.

I'm not sure the Lootas are good at this point level either, too expensive, and too unreliable, whereas you could have an extra large unit of boyz for the same cost!
