More so for the eye candy than anything else. I guess we are getting close to Samaritan levels of graphic fidelity, even if it's just a single corridor and not much else.
Mostly because I was skeptic about the whole run-around-with-the-deer-hopping-from-tree-to-tree deal, but it seems they actually managed to retain the feel of previous AC games while introducing something genuinely new to the franchise. The animation set in this game looks absolutely terrific. Ubi and me had a prickly relationship as of late, but I can't deny they have some clever people working there.
I'll keep on adding to the list as the show goes on. Let's hope Thief 4 actually makes an appearance, though I'd think either MS or Sony would be willing to snag it for their presentation, so I'm not getting my hopes up...

And I though it was theoritically impossible to add more bloom to AssCreed but I guess ubi just likes to prove me wrong. Seriously it looks like it's snowing with that OTT bloom.
Watch Dogs actually looks interesting. Open -ish world, no usual consolitis bs and interesting looking gameplay.
Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.
Hitman absolution caught my eye ive always been a fan of the series but this next game looks like it really is going to make my year and the graphics are lush for a hitman game.
Nothing. Well, maybe Tomb Raider - but other than that, all I've seen was a bad, boring, repetetive succession of decade-old clichés and a surreal celebration of graphic violence.
I don't often read RPS, but these articles summed up my feelings pretty well:
Dakka Bingo! By Ouze "You are the best at flying things"-Kanluwen
"Further proof that Purple is a fething brilliant super villain " -KingCracker
"Purp.. Im pretty sure I have a gun than can reach you...."-Nicorex
"That's not really an apocalypse. That's just Europe."-Grakmar
"almost as good as winning free cake at the tea drinking contest for an Englishman." -Reds8n
Seal up your lips and give no words but mum.
Equip, Reload. Do violence.
Watch for Gerry.
I think Halo 4 looks alright. Also chuffed that ACE team haven't been liquidated, its a shame they're making a sequel to Zeno Clash, not really a game that needs a sequel or a setting that needs to be further explored.
Was hoping they'd do a 'Spiritual Successor' as The gameplay in Zeno clash is excellent. Its just a little erm.. Weird.
Watch dogs looks promising. Looks like they're going for 'Crossplayer', an idea first posited by Arkane for their cancelled title 'the crossing' (which bore a startling resemblance to dishonored ) and then by Splash Damage in Brink. Well brink sucked and the crossing was cancelled. The only way to do it sucessfully is ripping off dark/demons souls.
Next thing, if it is Real Chicago, the game will suck. If it is 'Liberty city' Chicago they might be in with a shot. Accurately modelled real life locations are Gash play spaces.
Also, alot of these ambitious games are scuppered by pish driving, Get that part right and you've already got 50% of a decent game.
The 'fripperies' seemed to work well during the shoot out segment (the only part of the Demo that actually impressed). Outside of combat there appears to be little actual gameplay and if anything it looks even more scripted and predeterined than your average 3PS.
Finally 'Watch dogs' is an Atrocious Name.

Because Tomb Rider isn't full of decade old clichés and ridiculous graphic violence. Oh, wait...
Tomb Raider? Violent? Maybe this is a misunderstanding - I'm a big fan of shooter games. Actually, a certain amount of violence is even pretty much a must-have for me. But there's a huge difference between using it to complement the game's presentation, and celebrating it like some weird fetish that makes half the game look like a snuff movie. I dunno, maybe it was just the combination of the presentation's camera focus and the audience reaction that sparked this feeling in me, but for some reason it just seemed incredibly ... hard to say, primitive? Embarassing? Dangerous, even?
And yeah, Tomb Raider had clichés, but at least they were less emphasized (sexualized character being a capable badass instead of the usual damsel in distress or cute supporting cast) and they are not the ones that were dominating the presentation. In my opinion, Tomb Raider also innovated, which cannot be said from a lot of the games I've seen on the E3 live-feed.

Lara slaughtered a dozen or so people in the span of maybe a minute using bow, shotgun, incineration and stabbing. It's as violent and brutal as any other game shown on E3 so far, just because it didn't end with a shotgun blast to the head doesn't change that.
And it being innovative? I'm kinda missing that part right now. Maybe I should watch some more gameplay to see it.

Sensationalist, maybe?

You should see AC in the game, as Ubisoft Montreal is Watch Dogs' developer. Of course that also means we can probably expect another serial franchise with a grand global conspiracy that will never be resolved or even make sense.
The Last of Us.
I was excited for it before the gameplay was shown, because the background and environment look impressive, and the gameplay trailer makes it seem like it'll be an experience if nothing else.

Of course it does - it's not the mere action that is criticized, it's the amount of detail and focus and, for a lack of better words, creativity that is put on such things in a lot of games lately. How it's pulled off and how much emphasis the game puts on it. Have you read the article/s I linked earlier?
It's even more weird when you consider how adamant society still is as soon as it comes to sex. Y'know, that other thing you can do with bodies that does not involve in one of the involved persons dying in a most painful manner. Why is it again that this is frowned upon, but the act of killing is accepted and celebrated, with people clapping louder the more gory it is - I just can't get behind it.
In short:
Though that is a related yet different topic, I guess.

Oh, that was actually referring to the very first Tomb Raider game, not necessarily this one. Although I have to say I was intrigued by the premise. Then again, I vaguely recall having seen something like that in another game years ago already, so it's probably nothing new, just a change of direction.
His Master's Voice wrote:Sensationalist, maybe?
Definitely. If the developers are out of ideas, they can always just put even more gore into a game. Seems to work.

Watch Dogs looks incredibly ambitious, I wonder how far they will take that potential. The synopsis sounds like anticipation fiction, with pretty much only the "central system" left to anticipate... Interesting, to say the least.
Nitpicking minute : can you put a "virus" into a power grid ? I think hacking doesn't work like that...

At the risk of sounding like a toady, I myself feel compelled to applaud. My thoughts exactly, and the picture is spot on.

Also true alas

I haven't really been paying much attention to E3, and I don't own a console so many of the games are irrelevant to me (though I may, someday, buy one, but not any time soon), but I like the looks of Watch Dogs, Star Wars 1313, and Planetside 2.
