The Machine Cult has its dark secrets. One such is a laboratory several light-years from Ultramar, where heinous experiments are done. One such was the binding of a Synapse creature with a Machine Spirit, to make the equivalent of a combat servitor out of Tyranid husks. Of course, this had to have been done away from the prying eyes of the Inquisition, and more devout cultists. After discovering that Rippers carried a progenitor gene, the techpriests began inducing metamorphosis. The lack of any synapse creature would have killed them, but instead created a Norn-Queen, as the others lacked synapse. Creating a machine to block the psychic connection with the hive mind, the feral norn-queen was subdued, and *fed* raw bio-material. It spawned several hormagaunts, which were also subdued. Mechanical parts were surgically inserted into the hormagaunts and the Norn-Queen. Upon implanting the machine spirit in each subject, the all became intensely passive, but followed control easily. The project continued until there was many tyranid-hybrids on board and all had been converted. The Norn-Queen had been infused with the knowledge with which she could create mechanized tyranids of her own accord, given she has ceramite, plasteel and biomatter.

The Techpriests began combat-testing the mechanids against captive Kroot. The tests were disturbingly effective, as the Kroot's weapons simply glanced off the superior armor of the mechanids, who emotionlessly tore into their targets, unafraid. The next test was against several Catachan devils. The devils leapt upon the mechagaunts, and they merely drilled through the midsection of the unprotected beasts with shocking efficiency. Combat tests concluded with a mecharnifex against a greater Knarloc. The Greater Knarloc rushed the mecharnifex, who swatted it aside, and ripped it in two effortlessly with its massive bladed talons.

The Norn-Queen silently followed it's orders, making more and more mechanids, while also scanning tactical data, guard patrol times, and maps. Soon it had all of the information it needed to capture the Warp Torch, The machine blocking its connection. A Single Roboripper slipped into an air duct and drilled through the cable running to the Warp Torch, deactivating it, and the Norn-Queen struck. The Techpriests were in a flurry, firing conversion beamers, running in panic, and frantically attempting to control the purposed demons. They were destroyed, and no help came. The fear was the Inquisition would come and destroy everything, and this heresy cost them dearly. The last living Techpriest was, however, able to develop a virus and upload it to the Norn-Queen. As the swarm approaches, all channels hear a single name: Tenebris Abominamentum. This is followed by the Shadow in the Warp, and the onslaught. The dire warning has saved non, as it leaves all planets barren, consuming life and structure alike.
