Hello, if you guys have any experience with P3 paints and Secret Weapon washes? I have only used P3 Red base, but I read in forums the metal colors were not good in the past. Any advance on this?

I am mainly a Vallejo paint guy (Game Color, Model Color, and Model Air!) so the only P3 paints I use are their metallics. I've found Pig Iron as a suitable replacement for Boltgun Metal. Secret Weapon Washes are great though! I recommend the Soft Body Black Wash, Armor Wash, and Baby Poop Wash.

Thanks for the recommendation. I want to offer my painting group something different to GW, like Vallejo, P3 and Secret Waeapon.

P3 reformulated their metallics and they are supposed to be much better now. I actually ordered some P3 Pig Iron from the warstore, but they gave me the older formula. I haven't taken the time to exchange it just yet. I am a very new painter, but when I purchased paint I decided to get an assortment of paint from P3, Vallejo, and GW (old and new). P3 seem to cover very well and move around a lot easier. I find myself having less control issues with P3 compared to the new GW bases. So far so good and I would recommend them to anyone. I would also recommend the secret weapon washes. If you are thinking about carrying the line at a store then I would say go for it. I am an extremely new painter, but I would say they behave much more like a super thin pigment rich paint than something like an old GW wash. Just be sure to shake the bottles up because they sure like to separate. Good luck with everything. I wish my local store would stock SW and P3.

May the WAAC and pretzels be with you.

That is dissapointing that you have no stores that carry SW and P3. Now I do feel lucky to have two stores within 10 minutes of my house, one that carries Model Air and Game Color and my main one that carries Model Color, P3, and Citadel (meh...). It is much easier to stop on the way home from work to be what I need instead of ordering it.

My painting group is buying too much GW stuff like paint, glue, green stuff, basing and washes. I really recommended them there are other brands like Army Painter, Testors, Reaper, Vallejo, P3 and Secret Weapons. Even GF9 is cheaper than GW.

I use some of the SWM washes and they have limited uses for me. They act more like thinned paints with really smooth flow characteristics.
That being said, the Soft Body Black is a must have for shading white. I use that one particular wash all the time on models.

As far as the P3 metallics, I've gone to them since GW released their new metals and I heard nothing really good about them. I like the P3 metals or at least the Cold Steel which is the one I use most of all.

When people ask me, "How do you build your army?"
I tell them its "The ten-zero factor, coolness ten, combat effectiveness... zero."
