I have only ever played against nids once a while back and that was with Tau( ya, i got my butt kicked). So now i have Necrons against them. I am fairly sure hes bringing a shooty army of nids, and i know hes got a bunch of warriors. How should i take him on? Cause i have no clue. It will be around 2-3k pts.

Bring lots of S8+ Pieplate weapons, Warriors turn into goo when confronted with those.

I think he is playing Necrons against Tyranids. Necrons don't have a lot of pie plates either.

Doomsday arks are hilariously destructive against Tyranid Warrior bricks. Three of those can table a warrior reliant army in a snap.

I'm not sure what a shooty-Nid army would look like, but I have found that Tyranids have a little difficulty against vehicles.

I don't run them, but a Monolith or 2 should work great against bugs. Str 8 pie-plate at 24", Portal of Exile, 14 armor on all sides. I'm not sure how most bugs could even touch it. You could just move the monoliths around the field and squish bugs. Have the rest of your army sit in reserve and hope they don't come out till late in the game, when the bugs are wiped out!

Another idea is to load up small squads of warriors in as many Ghost arks as you can get, throw in a Despair-Tek, Storm-Tek with Lightning Field, and/or Destruct-Tek with gaze of flame. The Despair-Tek has the flame template that wounds against LD with no cover save and no armor save. Quite a few of the bugs have LD 6, so wounding on a 2+ even. The Storm-Tek's weapon is Str 5 Assault 4 and lightning field will do a few wounds if the nids assault. The Destruct-Tek is Str 8 (instant-death for T4 models). Throw those in a few Ghost Arks and move them every round, so to avoid the auto-hits on assault (you might want a couple overlords with phaeron, so your warriors can shoot too).

Tomb Blades with Particle Beamers (AP 5 blast template) should work pretty good, keep them between 18.1" and 23.9" away, and you are out of assault range but still able to hit them pretty hard.

It could be a fun battle, if they pierce your vehicles, your guys will go down like dominoes but if not they should drop like flies. It won't be a tie, that's for sure.

Simple. Outshoot them
Destructeks will ID warriors, triarch stalkers with particle shredders are a godsend
Annihilation barges
Monoliths in this case, are excellent, just keep monstrous creatures away from them, and focus fire any zoanthropes as priority 1.
Grab a unit of wraiths if you have them, they'll dice most tyranids, causing them to take ungodly numbers of fearless saves, which most of them they will fail.

Immotehk I feel is better for de-meching an army. In this case, I feel it would limit your shooting more than his.
