Hi all

In about 5 weeks time there will be a journeyman league happening, me and a mate decided to visit our local hobby store (Good Games -blackburn) and watch a Warmachine tournament to get a feel and hopefully pick up some tactical skill etc. As we watched we asked questions the nice gentleman Ed in regards to rule clarifications, tactics, list etc.

Ed was extremely helpful and gave us tonnes of useful information, so it's based on Steamrolled tourney ruleset.

1. We all start with only the battle group set
2. Each week you add 10 points worth of units ( you are allowed 2 list)
3. The last 2 rounds you get to switch out your warcasters

As I am still relatively new to Warmachine, I would probably get hammered by everyone playing at the tournament, but that's ok, gotta make mistakes and play test to improve. I would love some input on some general pKreoss tactics, I've heard about the pop and drop just wondering if there is any other advice or tips I might be able to gather from everyone here, thought I might be able to do some play test this long weekend.

Thanx in advance!

Loon

Most people when we played the journeyman league reached the top by making sure they played a lot of games not caring if they won or not but then painted a load of models.

Even with the amount of jacks (see below) i painted i only managed second! Everyone went a bit painting crazy it must be said.

I think journeyman leagues are great though. The more games you play the more points your score and the better you understand the game, then at the end you should have a nicely painted army

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

Kreoss1 is very fragile. So always be using your 14" control area to check for threats. Don't be afraid to put Defender's Ward on yourself if you think you are under threat. Find out if anything stops knockdown and make that your main target before feating.

Now, you'll be using the battlebox jacks so the pop and drop is going to be slightly harder without a couple of reckoners (the main jack I've seen Protectorate players use). At the really small point level games use the feat to stop your opponent getting the alpha strike. Later add in ranged units to attempt the pop and drop (if you fancy that). Errants are top of the list but Zealots with the UA work very well as a tarpit as well.
