I need a new computer, (and im not looking for one here on dakka, in case anyone is confused) and I don't know a whole lot about computers.

I need this computer to be able to play the game guild wars 2, here are the system requirements:

Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better • Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better • 2 GB RAM • NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) • 25 GB available HDD space • Broadband Internet connection • Keyboard and mouse

what would be the average cost for a computer like this?

A computer like that would probably be pretty cheap by now. When it comes to system requirements though you want to aim above them a bit not at them.

As a guess I'd say $100-200 max for one like that.

I thought you needed better than the requirements, but how much better?

Yeh that should be decent enough. However if you went with a desktop you could probably get the same for less by buying the parts separately and putting it together yourself or getting a friend to. But, more or less that's a personal preference.

I myself am using a Toshiba Satellite at the moment.

the only reason i can't really get a desktop is because i'm a teenager, and theres no room for a second one.

Woah hold up there, whilst the processor is good enough any computer that has an intel HD but doesn't have an i5 or i7 processor will only have the crappier version of the card. That being the intel hd 2000 which is significantly worse. You should really check that out or you could be in for a major disapointment.

I see, are most laptops that good?

If your only looking to be playing gw2 on it a good buy would be this. i have heard that the 3000 can play most recent games on medium/low settings so it is also good for that reason however if you are expecting to be playing the games of 2015 on it you might want to save up a bit more.

This one is out of stock but it is the absolute best price you can get for a laptop with those specs, might vcome back in i don't know.

This one is in stock and is the same specs but slightly higher cost.

Remember, things you'll probably never replace on a notebook are the graphics card (usually part of the motherboard), and the processor.

Ram and HDD can be replaced or improved.

That being said, really depends on how much you want to spend. From 500 onwards you'll probably get a 630-640 GT. In a Graphics Card you shouldn't look for 2gb of RAM, but instead for GDDR5 (rather than GDDR3). I'd rather have a better graphics card than, say, an i7 processor. The intel core i5 is good enough for most games; especially if your monitor res is NOT 1920x1080. This resolution demands more power from the GPU and the CPU, which means that low to mid computers won't handle the games well on higher settings (and not playing at native resolutions can look a bit... odd, if memory serves right).

If you want something to last, go from 600 to 800 euros . You won't find the need to replace it so soon.
