I know the old rule allowed you to deep strike with no real chance of something going wrong ,but i cant see anything in the new codex .

so does a lith suffer from mishaps ?

It seems odd if you scatter on to troops that it would be destroyed rolling a 1 or 2 with its size and all but i cant find anything to say otherwise

Yeah, they mishap like everyone else now. Bit of a blow to them, really, but they're still very tasty.

You could apply the same logic to BA Land Raiders - but they also have no Deep Strike protection.

Bit silly that GW would think either could be destroyed by falling on a guardsmen head lol seems to me it would be the other way round

Thanks for clearing it up

I think that's a case of mechanics over fluff though. Can you imagine the devastation LR's, or even drop pods would cause landing on a unit, before the game proper even starts in the case of drop pods. We'd see endless pod-bomb armies.

I don't see why you'd want to deep strike heavy support anyway. AV 14 all round is supposed to take damage and dish it out, and you pay a good price for that. Don't get why you'd choose to not have it on the board for 1 or 2 turns, then immediately plonk it into melta range.

Because the Monolith has a max range of 24" and a maximum speed of 6" a turn? Also it has the ability to move one non vehicle squad from anywhere on to board to itself every turn without risk of scatter.

Now I'm not saying Melta isn't going to pop it the first chance it gets but putting it in the back line seems a bit of a waste.(Honestly unless 6th ED gives "Heavy" vehicles some extra rules the Monolith is a 200pt turret)

Deploying 12" in, the moving 6" in the first turn will bring anything deployed within 5" of the front of the enemy deployment zone in range. 24" doesn't seem that bad to me.

It is not worth it when there are things that are a lot better in the heavy support slot, such as anhilation barges, doom scythes and spyders for the scarab farm lists. It can do a lot of damage but dies quickly with out normally making its points back.

I've seen it win games by a) teleporting scoring units across the table when needed, and b) just blocking LOS. No-scatter Teleportation and mobile terrain are useful things.

I do think it's a little overpriced now with no melta-resistance, but it's still certainly useful.

It really could use some DS protection as well.
