Hello What colors would be best to make a rusty look by using the new paint from GW.
I was thinking of some of the OIL and some watered down brown but figured I would ask the almighty DAKKA DAKKA!

Ah new colours.. let me open the chart lol.. if you have a light base colour id do a layer of Mournfang Brown (outlinging where you want your rust) than stipple some Mepheston Red for a darker rust or Jakaero Orange for a lighter, then a line of RuneFang, followed by a few dabs of Leadbelcher.
Depending on your base colour id probably do an Agrax Earthshade to make it less prominent but if you want it to stand out only do the wash on the shiny colours, give me a few days and ill post a tutorial involving all these colours.

well.. that depends on what KIND of rust you are going for.
If you are going for Iron oxide, then you'll need browns, reds, and some oranges. If you are going for copper oxides, you'll need greens and some whites. bronze will tarnish to a brown, then rust like copper. Some metals rust black as well.
Then there's also the fact to consider of HOW rusted do you want something. Completely unservicable and decomissioned piece of junk that's been sitting there for the past twenty years, or something that's rough around the edges and hasn't been taken care of?

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

The equivalent of tin-bitz, dry brushed.
whatever that is, nowadays. Rust is a rough look so washes detract from the image.
truly, though if you want good rust effects you need to use weathering powders
like that.
