So I got lucky and GW released a finecast version of the librarian that I wanted to convert, and the fact that it didnt have any problems with it when it came in. So I spent the night last night converting this sucker. I took off the force axe and plasma pistol and gave him lightning claws obviously. I also had to carve out the old head for the new one, as well as scrape off the book symbol on his left leg. He will be a counts as Shrike model, I have a tubine jump pack for him that will be put on when both pieces are done being painted.
Here is a link to the librarian model on the GW site
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440176a&prodId=prod1600012a&rootCatGameStyle=

And here are some pics of the conversions, no green stuff has been used and it can probably use some.

I have a few more pics but I didnt want to flood the page. Comments and Critiques are awesome.
Thanks for checking it out, Peace.

Its cool but it still looks like a librarian with some claws id try to make it more captain-y some how maybe i dont really know just the librarian bodies just look like librarians. the jump pack may help it out a bit but man that head must have been a pain to scooop out i did that a while back with some plastic models and it was a nightmare

Some unless it's...Excorsists? I suppose I can go check but anyways...The horns on the skull symbol belongs to the librarium you might have to obliterate it

Definitely like the idea of using the librarian for a captain and the head looks the part (good job with that, scraping out heads is a pretty big pain). The claws are just too big for my liking though, but otherwise good job on cleanly removing some of the librarian symbols.

Yeah I was debating whether or not to take off the skull, I probably will, the resin is amazingly easy to work with. I was really high when I took the head out of the model, I found it easy just took a while. my chapter symbol has a lightning bolt in it so the ones on the shoulder pad will probably be left on.

Awesome! Reminds me of the special edition captain model that i guess was handed out at a games day a while back. but that one had a chainmail looking toga.

Heh alright, but not he is not Exorcists he is going to be a captain for my house chapter Warriors Tempest. The chapter symbol that I will be using for them is a cloud with a lightning bolt comming down from it, its actually the icon for the tempest set of magic the gathering.

Ahh, well at least on the Shoulder pad you're half way there already just need to nick off the skull.
I eagerly await paint.

So after a few weeks of working on the model when i could, and waiting forever to get guitar string, I have come to the next step for my captain.
I took a couple of pics of the new work.

I did remove the horned skull on the shoulder and the horns from the skull on the chest. I also trimmed down the lightning claws and added the wire to simulate power cords
Any comments critiques or advice is most welcome.

well i think your really getting there now! powercables look good, although im not a big fan of guitar wire...
and people can say a lot about finecast, and GW does have some quality control problems there, but it is way easier to convert! i can imagine it would have been a hell to remove the libby skull from his pauldron and horns from the chest if it was a metal model!

So I am pleased with how the modle is currently so I figure its time to work on the base.

This is a base from one of my scouts, and the on photographed picture of the bases I am working on
My terminator squad, in which my captain will be a part of, is going to be based using a crushed crystal theme. As in the bases will be smooth on top, no texture what so ever, except where the terminator has his feet. The crystal will be shattered and splintered up around his feet. Basically think heavy termi, softer crystal. So of course I want to tie the theme of the base of my captain in with the terminators. Since he is in just power/artificor type armour I figure he will not have the crushing effect on the crystal like the terminators. So I was thinking of putting him up on a large crystal kinda like he is over looking his troops, think pride rock from the lion king for how is may look.
Any suggestions or ideas on the entire project deffinatly help. Thanks and Peace

Unfortunaly I dont see any way to make the claws smaller other than redoing the entire modle and I dunno if there are smaller lightning claws for both hands.
