Just a question about some Sisters of Battle rumors. I've been scouring the interwebz (sort of) and I saw a rumor about new SoB models. Can anybody confirm this? My friend has been wanting to start playing but the main reason he hasn't is because all the Sisters right now are metal and overpriced (not that plastics wouldn't be overpriced haha.)

i think there was a description a good 6 months ago of some plastics/concepts. I doubt GW sees them as a priority though so i wouldnt hold your breath.

I would expect SoB new minis to bereleased when the new codex comes out. Whenthatis, who knows.

So what you're saying is that they have it in the works, and if someone were to convince them with some dakka they would reconsider pushing them forward.

I let my friend know. He didn't seem too bummed, as now he has an excuse to keep his money.

I agree the best thing to do would be to wait at this point. I know I am.

I think it was floating around that Jes Goodwin was working on them, which I suppose should mean they'd be decent when they do finally come out. I've seen it bounce around 2013 every now and then but of course no solid information on it yet and it may have even bounced off to somewhere else by now. Stopped keeping up with it.

Frankly, I don't put too much faith (do ho ho) into these rumours. The only actual official comment we had was when some people from B&C asked Jes Goodwin and Phil Kelly on a con at the end of 2010 and they replied that they didn't start working on them yet, though they implied they'd like to. Anything else is internet rumour mill - including these supposed sightings by "Stickmonkey", which sound pretty suspect as they'd mean that GW was churning out Sisters minis within two months after Jes' statement and then decided to just not sell them for another year.

On a more positive note, however, I will say that the metal minis are lovingly done. If anyone can cough up the obscene amount of cash for them, I'm tempted to say they're worth it. This feeling isn't rooted solely in their amazing design and the rather nice weight they have on the table and in your hand, though, but also in the fear that any remake would end up looking worse than the original version (like, they could add high heels *shudder*).

It's a terrible army and you should feel bad for not trying to stop him from starting a terrible army.

You wouldn't let your friend drive drunk or ingest copious amounts of brain-melt would you?

Haha. Sisters of Battle was really the first army that got me interested in the game. I never started an army because I didn't love most of the sculpts and the cost. The codex is in a bad way at the moment, but I have high hopes for the near future (a couple of years out). I will say though, I was thinking about going with some Dark Eldar models for the time being. I think with a bit of work, they'd look pretty nice as Sisters stand-ins.

I wouldn't put any faith in the rumors. They're far older than six months, and nothing has ever arrived. Literally the Sisters are still using sculpts from the mid nineties and the line hasn't seen anything significant as a new release in years.

I don't think the Sisters will end up like the Squats because I don't think Games Workshop wants to deal with the backlash of erasing an entire model line again, but at the same time, the got a White Dwarf codex release (spread across two issues at that). If they weren't interested in printing a book for them, there's probably very little interest in the financial investment of new molds for a mass produced line of plastics. Especially with there being a few mainstream armies, most notably the Eldar, who still need to be brought into the plastic age.

The Dark Eldar conversion idea is one to consider. It seems like a lot of work and expense, but the basic elements are there. Might even be easier with the older OOP Dark Eldar figs which can be picked up on EBay on the cheap a lot of the time, and even unassembled.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I saw a guy with SoB conversions made out of the new DE female bodies and arms at my local GW store. He said they were a lot of work but he was really happy with how they came out. I wish I had some pictures for you guys...

Rumors originally had it that around the time the white dwarf dex came out. people had seen plastic sisters in various stages of completion. They were of the opinion that the models were close enough that it was a possibility for them to be released with the WD.

However it takes about 2 years for models to be "finished" to produced enough to sell because of the way GW works. (Take a look at the date of any new resin models for example) So assuming they were "completed" around september/october" of last year. I would not be surprised at all to see them released next fall.

As far as rumors I have heard or gathered from elsewhere. Sisters were suppose to get a real codex, which was pushed back to "late 2012" which as far as ive heard from everyone ive been in contact with has now become "sisters seem to have just dropped completely off the radar"

So as far as im concerned your earliest bet will be late 2013.

When in doubt burn it, then burn yourself for doubting.

Sisters work fine, they just don't work the way they used to. Still, you won't find many people hoping the WD codex sticks around for too long - it is fine, but limited in options and has a few problems that need to be tweaked away. Plus, they STILL have not released a pdf of the codex.
