Hey me and the guys I play with were stumped at this. Basically two squads are locked in assault and I have a squad with a flamer just watching and my opponent has another squad watching as well. I'm worried about losing the assault so I move my flamer unit in a position so that when it targets the other squad it covers units in the assaulting squad.

Is this allowed and does the assaulting squad take damage?

I'm going to guess that you'll have to reposition the template so it does not touch any units currently in close combat.

You are not allowed to place the template over friendly models, or models in close combat.

on the other hand Nobz they decided it was in the best interest of ork society that they "Go Green" as such they specifically modified their warbikes to not make giant smoke, dust, grit, clouds. Instead they are all about driving with clean air, one might say their bikes Gak out rainbows.

However, per page 40 of the brb, it can scatter there (don't ask me how though).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Are there any weapons that use the flamer template that are also weapon type blast?

The only template that I can think of that might possibly scatter would be the hellstorm bombing run's mentioned at the start of the Apocalypse book. I don't know if those scatter or not though.

Normal rule-wise, I don't know of any template weapon that can scatter.

There shouldn't be. Template means flamer template, blast means blast templates. iirc

I played Ordo Malleus since before it had a codex.

The part Happyjew is talking about is referring to both blasts and templates. It's no big mystery.

He posted as I was writing, causing me to make no sense.

If there were a template weapon which scatters, it could go there. As it stands, page 40 is quite explicit that you can never place a template so that it covers any models in close combat.

You would have to move the template to the left until it didn't hit the melee yet still got max hits possible.
