Hi all, just a quick one.

In a characters/units entry in an army list sometimes there's an option to replace several bits of wargear (list A) with another bit of wargear (gear B), such as taking terminator armour for example. The question is; if there's an option to replace one of the items in list A with something such as a power weapon, will upgrading with gear B casue the power weapon to be lost, or will it be unobtainable?

Usually unobtainable - if you dont have the gear to swap, you cannot perform the swap

So for example if you can exchange your chainsword or bolt pistol for X, Y, Z, but have already exchanged it for terminator armour with a storm bolter and power sword, then you cannot make the exchange. And if you exchange first, you cannot then get terminator armour - you dont have the right wargear.
