So i've been reading the HH Novels and this guy seems to be mentioned in most of the novels covering the Istvaan III massacre, but none seem to detail what actually happened to him. In one of the books i seemed to have read about him going down to the Istvaan III palace depths to protect something. which got me wondering to what his eventual fate is or if he has his own story to tell in the HH series.

I think he survives. He already survived the virus bomb, and if Loken and others could survive the orbital bombardment, Rylanor certainly could, especially if underground.

IIRC, wasnt there cracks/fractures in his armour? So he'd be om nom nom'ed by the life eater? So he tried to ensure the others got to safety, whilst accepting his own fate. That's how I remember it anyway...

Rylanor was the Emperor's Children Dreadnought; he's the one Tarvitz sent to guard some underground passage. He survives the virus bombing, but it's unknown whether or not he survived the orbital bombardment..

The Dreadnought you're thinking of was a Death Guard Dread. His armor was cracked during the planetary assault, and as a result the virus manages to seep into his armor and kill him. He ends up dying alongside some other Death Guard captain on Istvaan.

Aaah dang. Thanks for clarifying, knew I remembered a dreadnought of some sort.

Loved Ancient Rylanor, hope he appears later in the series if he survived.

Why didn't Garro find him when he returned for Loken?

Since he was sent underground there's a good chance he survived the bombings
