Most of the traitor legions have had some ret-conning of their symbols and color schemes so there are some options even while being official depending on how old school you want to be, on the side of the box for space Marine (a.k.a. Epic 1st edition, which is where all the original Heresy era fluff really got going) they're shows as Red with Black shoulder pads and a yellow 'M' (for one thousand) for example.
