I would like to get a TFC but don't want to fork out $110 NZD for the finecast model.
So, I was thinking of converting one using the Forge World raiper and was wondering if anyone has done similar conversions and if such a conversion would be acceptable.

Any suggestions/help would be apperciated.

I think it would be a good stand in, as long as it was cheaper for you guys. The main points I would focus on would be to angle the gun a little bit more, and changed the end of the barrels so that they do not resemble las-weaponry.

You would also need a techmarine to man the thing, but I'm sure it would be easy enough to create a simple one from plastic bits and a little green-stuff fu. Something like this, for example.

Yes, that one.
And its waaaaaaaaay cheaper then the GW TFC (110NZD = roughly 55GBP)
Cutting the ends off the barrels looks like the way to go, thanks!

Another alternative is the mantic Jotunn hailstorm cannon for Warpath.

It's tracked, has a 4 barrel cluster, gun shield, and a servitor gunner operating it. They're resin, easy to assemble and do the job.

It's also around $30AUD (probably find it cheaper, too). Three for one GW TFC in finecast.

They're what my SM TFCs are (all three of them).
