I am looking at creating a marine theme army with representitives from every major chapter and need help. Around 1850 points-wise.

Basically I was getting bored and pulled out my extra marines and started painting other chapters from the Marines codex to see what looked good. Now I have several different colored marines, so now I want use them.

I was considering a deathwatch army, more of a training army, only a single deathwatch member per squad. Maybe a Deathwatch HQ.

I wanted to get opinions on what kind of composition would a Deathwatch training army have. Also what chapters would have to be in a particular squad?

One last thing I am running out of chapters. This is what I've got so far:

Silver Skulls, Blood Angels, Flesh Tearers, Dark Angels, the other 3 Dark Angels, Ultramarines, Mentors, Imperial Fist, Iron Hands, Crimson Fists, Raven Guard, White Consuls, Red Templars, Black Templar, Space Wolves, Storm Lords, Howling Griffins, Salamanders, Blood Ravens, Hawk Lords, Revilers, Doom Eagles.

If you can remember more please let me know. Pictures would be greatly appeciated if you got them. I can't find my old Space Marine codex or the rogue trader book right now.

Lesse...dug up my 'dex. I don't have a clue on how Deathwatch work - I googled them and apparently they're supposed to be black with one shoulder pad the colour of their original chapter. Sounds like a fun project - ought to look a lot like a 40kized Brettonnian army.
The rest of the named successor chapters in the book are: Marauders, Rampagers, Destroyers, Wolf Brothers, Angels Encarmine, Angels Sanguine, Angels Vermillion, Blood Drinkers, Red Talons, Brazen Claws Patriarchs of Ulixis, Librators, Inceptors, Praetors of Orpheus, Genesis Chapter, Black Guard and Raptors. (whew!)

and if that isn't enough you can always check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Space_Marine_Chapters . http://www.ironhands.com/chapters.htm has shoulder pads and chapter colour descriptions. There's some site out there with a ridiculous number of obscure named chapters, plus line drawing for each of them, but I can't find it as easily as my codex as the other two.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Thanks a lot, I will look around the links.

I agree with the chaotic colors of the army. Brettonnian is going to be an apt description.

Also have the Emperor's Pointy Sticks in there too.

Does Dakka Dakka have their own marine colors?

This would be good, but I'm pretty sure you can't have a Kill Team and Deathwatch marines in seperate squads at the same time.

As an alternative to fielding entire Kill-teams...

In reference to DW marines in normal squads.

But, with the Kill Team gone, you have free points to get the extra HB's in your Devs.

hhmmmm.....

That will change a lot. I couldn't find my White Dwarf with the info, still hunting for it. Using Army builder, and don't get all the info I need.

Which would you consider more fluffy? DW in normal squads, or have the DW HQ.

There is only one way to get a true kill team but it takes up a hq slot you can use the regular marine codex since deathwatch can be in any loyalist army such as marines and guard yes you can use marines with guard in White Dwarf 305 the rules are stated its simple really

Hey look are name is DEAMONHUNTERS to bad we suck at it now, thanks alot 5th edition! How about a new codex? Not a chance!

Holy Damn thread res.

atlas58- the last post before yours was 3 and a half years ago...wow...

while I'm in this thread though:
Now that there is a new marine codex, you could take a deathwatch army with a pedro/sternguard list, using a Deathwathc captain as pedro, and deathwatch guys as sterns. Regular marines could be whatever chapters.

...one amongst untold billions.
