Hello all recently I have been painting my necrons a non-silver, red/charcoal theme . Im wanting to paint up my destoyer lord like the old gamesworkshop theme [/img]http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m400748_99140110016_DestroyerLordMain_873x627.jpg[img]

But im not quite sure how to achieve the black fade to red or how to lighten my red to the white without making pink..

Can anyone give me some solid tips ? Thanks in advance!

EDIT I have never put a photo on a post and im not quite sure how to get it to show up

You would use a orange to orangish yellow for the final highlight.. You can't exactly use pink for a final highlight.. Unless it is slaanesh..

You're pretty much there, the only thing wrong is the img goes in front of the pic and the /img goes after it

This. If you want to highlight red without going pink, then go orange, yellow, then white if you want really bright highlights.

From the picture I'd guess that the painter painted the model black, then drybrushed the edges white followed by a wash of Red Ink. I think he drybrushed white because of the pattern and texture of the red. I think he used Red Ink because the black as a red tint to it. Following the red ink he edge highlighted the edges with red and then yellow at the highest and outermost points. This technique would be the fasted way of painting this kind of look.
