Hello all,
I read the codex and it screams out that each SW is unique. That being said, do all the SW players use uniform right shoulder pads? I know the left designates the company they are from, but the Grey Hunters have soooo many options for the right (many of them right in the kit). Just curious on everyones opinions.

Thanks All!

I used all of the same, it makes for easier squad recognition if you play with them.

If it's showcase/display Wolves you are building, I would suggest going all out and making them all unique.

The way I've done my, is that right shoulder pad is similar for the respective pack, but other decorations are up to the individual models. For example, within the same pack one model might have a more decorated trim, another might have a wolf tail hanging from it, then I paint somebody's kneepad in one color and somebody's else in another way (or keep it in line with the armor color). That way, they are all different. Also, all WolfGuards get their trim in bronze (and I am doing Ragnar's Company), whereas Long Fangs have their shoulderpads in white (even though they are Ragnar's, but they still wear his wolfhead on the left pad).

right shoulderpads, i actually dont paint those the same...
for a tactical squad i sometimes just outline the arrow, or just paint a little arrow in a corner of the shoulderpad.
some shoulderpads get some scribbling on them and some get a crux terminatus or a purity seal to break them up.

grey hunters are SW right? idk what their deal is but i bet you can sneak in some wolf stuff in there, like a skull inside a tactical arrow or something

Grey Hunters are not tacticals, You Codex-Astartes adhering "insert Your insult here" To keep things short, they don't use arrow/skull etc marking on shoulderpads

I think the codex was trying to say that SW characters are unique. I paint the right shoulder pads the same for all of the dudes in a squad - that way it's easier to see which GH goes to which squad. Even my WG leaders have the same pattern on the right shoulder - only in black & yellow instead of black & red.

But you know what? You can paint them however you want.

Customization of each model is 1 thing, but squad markings is another. It really is up to the player. Personally, I don't have any squad markings on my shoulderpads/knee pads, but I liked the idea of painting the pads differently more than a logo on each (stripes, triangles, etc.) I might change my mind though, I kept the transfer sheets.

I think the main part of "Each model is different" mostly applies to what was described earlier: fur, rings, skulls, and other accessories typical of a bloodthirsty viking super killer from the future.

(I know, viking isn't an exact match, but it's not bad)

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?
