Just that. I want to know if this thing is legal. It seems as legal as all of the other Army Builders out there, but I am still dubious.

Well what its worth I use http://fowlists.blogspot.com/ as you can use them free. Only problem still is you still need to own the book(s) to get the specs for units.

It is legal - in fact Battlefront fully acknowledges it and if I am not mistaken, they get % from easyarmy income.

Apparently Battlefront have some kind of agreement with Easyarmy. As Easyarmy charges to use their services and the FoW books are copyrighted it would be very easy for Battlefront to take legal action but they haven't.
You don't need the books at all, Easyarmy has all the special rules and stats on the OOB page of your chosen list.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.
-Leman Russ, Meditations on Imperial Command book XVI (AKA the RT era White Dwarf Commpendium).
Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

It seems like Battlefront has an agreement with Easyarmy. However, even if they didn't, I'm not sure it would actually be illegal. We hear a lot about Games Workshop protecting their trademarks (which is different than copyright), but as far as I know, contrary to what seems to be popular belief on Dakka, game rules themselves actually can't be copyrighted in the US, and I'm pretty sure that includes things like army lists and point values. I'm not sure how it is in other countries though.

Easy army uses imagery taken directly from FoW books (the army selection diagrams) so its not just as case of points values and stats.

Okay, yeah if they use the imagery directly then they'd have to have a deal with Battlefront or else Battlefront could claim infringement, you're absolutely right (and I wasn't sure about that part).
But theoretically, if they removed BF's images taken directly from the book and just used stats and points values, it doesn't seem like they'd be infringing.
(I realize it's a moot point, since BF seems to be totally fine with it, I just thought it was something worth mentioning since it seems like a lot of people think that posting stats and points values from books is a copyright infringement, especially where GW is concerned, and that seems to not actually be the case).

It seems to be pretty much the 'officially unofficial' army creation tool for FoW. I like it, even if the interface seems a bit cumbersome to me at times.
Basically, just because GW sees things one way and is a bit defensive at times, don't assume everyone is the same way. Over at DP9, we have Gear Garage in a similar niche as a fan-made army tool that we 'support' albeit in a limited way (linking to it, a subforum for it, etc.). It's cool and a big help for the community, as is EasyArmy!
BTW, service from EasyArmy is very quick and high quality. I accidentally double-paid for a list I wanted to look at and the guy who runs it contacted me without prompting within an hour. He offered a refund, but I asked him to keep it and just unlock another list for me.
