In english this term our assignment is to make our own poem (Ballad, Ode, Elegy, Free Verse, Blank Verse or Sonnet) that is minimum 20 lines long (so 5 4 line stanzas) and is about a topic that is of great importance either nationally or internationally. We also have to write an essay analysing the poem. So far I've decided that I will probably write a Free Verse poem (purely because it is the easiest to write, and I suck at poetry) however I'm stuck on the topic. I've tried to write a poem about obesity, and I've tried to write one about the plight of the aboriginal people of Australia (this is a good poem, however most people could find it racist, especially with the voice I use ) so I don't what I should pick, do the people of dakka have any ideas?
