I would be interested in hearing other opinions on what makes a game fun. In my opinion, fun games should be primary objective of any organized event.

This poll makes the assumption of good sportsmanship on the part of your opponent, so that is not included as an option.

The thing I hate most about tournaments are the first and 2nd round pairings. If they are done completely randomly, it's rough, but with comp pairings, it's up to the opinion of the judges. My "good times" have always come from 3rd and 4th round pairings, so I find those opponents to be the best and most matched to my game style.

I enjoy tournaments because I get to play against new people, not just the same old group at my flgs.
new people = new tactics you have never seen, so it makes for great learning/development of your own personal strategies.

Also, I love seeing lots of fully put together and painted armies, it really makes a game more fun when there aren't any plastic-grey warriors running around.

I can't get enough games in. I love playing 40k, so if I get the chance to play 3 or 5 games in a day, I'm ecstatic.

Is it ok to vote for all of the above?

Best use of time, IE: 3-4 games in a day.
Fully painted armies and good terrain.

Even the best event is ruined with unpainted armies for me. It becomes a waste of time and ruined gameplay. It seems people who paint seem to have a better attitude and make the events more enjoyable.

It's the people that do it for me but a good army and some nice terrain would also do it

We are winged salvation, but we are a terrible, final salvation, and our wings embrace the horizon with fire. We are the Blood Angels. To confront us is to die, and death is my remit, my reality, my unbounded domain. I have known death, and defeated it, claimed it as my own. To my cost, to my strength, death is my one gift to bestow, and I am nothing if not generous.

I feel like it's missing some options.

Getting to play multiple games against different people/armies in one day.

Getting to talk and enjoy a 40k atmosphere with like minded individuals.

Seeing different army concepts, ideas, paint schemes, and conversions.

EDIT: Last one:
Showing off your prized army to peers, and getting to talk about it.
