Took me awhile to get this edited and uploaded, May was really busy for me but glad to get this up. I played around with a time-lapse video of each game. You can't really tell what is going on, but it's good fun (keep an eye out for the ChristianA cameo at one point during the video).

For the first game I was paired up with Mike while Polonius and Lorek were on the table next to us. My list:

1 - Librarian - 100 pts
Sanguine Sword, Shield of Sanguinius

1 - Furioso Dreadnought - 150 pts
Blood talons, heavy flamer, extra armor

5 - Assault Marines - 181
Meltagun, Power Weapon
1 - Razorback
Twin-linked Lascannon, Searchlight

5 - Assault Marines - 181
Meltagun, Power Weapon
1 - Razorback
Twin-linked Lascannon, Searchlight

1 - Baal Predator - 116
Searchlight

1 - Predator - 136
Autocannon, 2 x Lascannon, Searchlight

1 - Predator - 136
Autocannon, 2 x Lascannon, Searchlight

Mike's list was similar except that he had a drop pod for his Furioso, didn't have the second Auto-Las Predator and had a unit of Scout Snipers.

We were up against a mixed team with Imperial Guard and Draigo-wing Paladins. They were both pretty new players, but I am relatively novice with Blood Angels and Draigo is always scary.

I won't go into too much detail but basically, the Draigo player decided to combat squad and reserve his army. This meant that we could focus our entire force, with our myriad lascannons, against the IG player, effectively crippling him before Draigo even decided to show up. Once he did, all of our lascannons then turned on him and his paladins and while he did manage to blow up a few vehicles, we were able to stay away from him and shoot him and his squad to death. My Furioso spent the entire game chasing Draigo ineffectively while Mike's Furioso landed turn one behind the IG player's lines, blew up a Hydra with his melta gun, then trampled through several IG units until I believe he was finally melta'd.

On the table next to us, Lorek and Polonius had basically advanced completely across the table and there was nothing left of their opponents force. I'll let them elaborate on their game if they feel like it.

So we scored max points for our first game and knew that meant we would be facing a tough opponent for game 2.

Nice! Still cool to see the report, and the video was fun. I also enjoyed playing "name the people in the background". Mike Brand, Tony, Eric Hoerger, Scooter also from the DC/NoVA crew, Nate Stevens from the Sons of Shatner seems to pop into frame briefly, and I could probably pick up more on a second viewing or if I paused it. Memories!

Second video up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR6p4xUVCOc

We were worried that after our good showing (max points) in the first game that we would be up against a dual Grey Knights, IG, or some other overpowered match-up. So it was with great relief that I saw our next opponents were rocking Dark Eldar.

Now, Dark Eldar can be tough, don't get me wrong, but when you are expecting Purifier Spam, a rather well balanced Dark Eldar force is a gift from the Emperor.

In this game, Lorek and I were paired off and unfortunately the Dark Eldar team was going first. I set up on the right flank with the table edge on my far right while Lorek grabbed the middle/left flank. When it came time to seize the initiative, I grabbed one of my DakkaDakka dice, screamed DAKKA! and it rolled, coming up with a beautiful DakkaDakka logo, we had seized the initiative!

First turn saw every Raider/Ravaver in the front rankdrop to our lascannons, even pinning one of the squads inside. We had dealt them a blow, but they still had plenty of tricks up their sleeves.

For the next few turns it became a game of cat and mouse as every time one of their vehicles showed itself our Lascannons opened up to take it down. But the Dark Eldar were numerous and they clawed their way through several of our vehicles, until my Furioso came to the party. The threat of it kept several of his squads away as he really had nothing that could really hurt it. It did get tied up with a Wych or Bloodbrides unit (can't remember which) and their dodge save kept him tied up until they finally broke and ran.

Those wych squads were dangerous! Even a few getting in amongst our assault marines would wreak havoc and eventually even my Librarian fell to their leader's agonizer. But, in the end, the blow we dealt them on turn one meant that they had the uphill struggle all game and we ended up with a minor victory.

On the other table, Mike and Polonius had a much rougher game. Every time I looked over, their faces were grim and it seemed that they were going to lose. At the end, the forces of Sanguinius were successful, but I'm still not sure how their game went.

The first game against IG was a good time, but the poor guys had an uphilll slog that they made worse by winning the roll, then deferring.

Going first is a huge benefit in a shootout, so we were able to knock down/out a lot of their army early on. I don't remember much, but the army basically worked perfectly: drop pod dreads blew up vehicles, lascannons blew up vehciles, and assault cannons blew up light vehicles.

The second game was much tougher. The rock star was Mike's Furioso, which carved a bloody swath through about half the enemy army. I wish I remembered more about the game. I know we got lucky with some extra turn love.
