I want to build a shooty SM army using Tacs, Devistators, Scouts, and Armor.
Are there any non-vanilla SM codex's fitted for this? I know BA is not what I want, but what about DA or BT or SW?
If I have to use a regular SM army that's OK, but I want to get some advice from the pros first.

Thanks guys

Dave

SW is a very strong shooting list, along with GK being just at shooty, two different styles though.

My purpose in life is to ruin yours.

SW? I always assumed they were more of a close combat unit. Im not sure about GK, Im more into the SM fluff

While I agree the GK fluff reads like bad fan fiction they are probably the best shooting marine army out right now.

The advantage SW have is long fangs. Multiple packs of them filling the table and their ability to split fire allows 3 full units of them to lay down some serious power.

My personal favorite "shooty marine" list however is Black Templars. We are the only codex still capable of min maxing the las/plas with las razorbacks. And we are capable of taking large amounts of terminators with cyclone missile launchers or assault cannons and then give them tank hunters. With the recent faq upgrading our cyclones to be 2 shot frag/krak that actually gives us relentless 2 shot str 9 weapons and you can take two per squad. Then the fact they are on terminators makes them decently hard to get rid of. And it seems like terminators are receiving a nice survivability buff in 6th.

When in doubt burn it, then burn yourself for doubting.

In terms of armor, I'd take Rifleman Dreads and auto/las Predators. Devastators are not a must have as they are too static.

SW can easily do shooty letting you weaken your opponent with a few turns of shooting before stalking forward to tear out their throats and really stick the boot in.

The thought of a SW army is awesome. I love the lore behind the chapter, I just cant stand all of the helmet less models. Not a fan of the bearded beasts lol.

You can always field a counts-as space wolf army with guys that realise the benefits of protecting their heads with more than just a beard. I cant think of anyone that'd stop you running the SW codex just because they cant see facial hair

LMAO nice That sounds so awesome. I mean, the unique units I can see using the beard helm, but regular tacs, common lol.

It isn't hard to make normal Marines into "counts as" Spess Wulfz. Just give them a knife, lol.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?
