It had seemed that this might be some kind of 'ardboyz replacement, but it turned out that it was just the GW sales rep promoting a format he liked. Anyway, its free with prize support! I was asked clean it up a bit, and here is the result:
Greenhouse Games presents: Veteran's War!
A free tournament with prizes!
When – July 7th, 12 noon start time.
Where: Gardiner Maine, Greenhouse Games.
What: Three games – 2500 Points, 1850 points, and 1500 points.
This war takes place over three hard-fought battles. Your colony world is under attack by a coalition of enemies – you must fight to the very last. Any who survive will have earned the right to call themselves Veterans many times over!
Scenario 1 – Fire in the Sky.
1) The first assault is at 2,500Pts. Meet your opponent's onslaught with equal ferocity, as you try to hold or destroy a critical landing zone.
Victory Conditions
The objective A is placed in the center of the board and can only be claimed by an scoring unit. Table quarters are objective B. Any type of unit can claim these. You must have more units then your opponent in that table quarter. Objective C is most units survived. This is going to be a long war, conserve your forces...
Objective:
A-5 honors
B-3 honors
C-2 honor
If an objective is “tied” or neither player achieves them, the points are divided equally between both players. If you table the opposing player, you may play the remaining turns to achieve any conditions, but do not automatically win all honors.
Deployment is Dawn Of War from the main rulebook
Special rules: All normal scenario rules (infiltrate, deepstrike, etc) are in effect. Random Game Length and seize the initiative are in effect.
A note about sportsmanship. War is, an can be a nasty thing. You are not really in one. I know we can all bring honor to our names.
Sportsmanship - "Sportsmanship is an aspiration or ethos that a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors. A sore loser refers to one who does not take defeat well, whereas a good sport means being a "good winner" as well as being a "good loser"." - wikipedia
Scoring of sportsmanship is as follows.
1 - Good Sportmanship - You earn a veteran special honor. You receive one universal special rule of your choice in the next upcoming battle. One unit of your choice will benefit. The unit may not cost more than 300 points. Certain rules do not make sense for vehicles (What does a furious charging landraider do?), so don't abuse this with questionable rules interpretations. Chose your special rule at the start of your next game.
0- Something could not be resolved by conversation, rule book referral, or dice roll, or there were issues such as picking up dice too quickly, or the like. Please don't let this happen to you.
Both players write a “zero” or “1” on a sheet of paper and show the other at the same time.
Sportsmanship note: Once you moved you moved, once you shot you shot, once you assaulted you assaulted. You cannot take decisions back. In war it costs you. It is okay to lose and make mistakes, you get better for having made them.
Eternal warrior is only given to a single model.
Fog of War
2) The second assault is 1,850Pts. Meet you enemy with caution, as you fight for different objectives. Your forces are depleted, but hardened by what they have been through. Your opponents objective is only revealed at the end of battle.
From the main rule book
1. Capture and Control
2. Seize Ground
3. Kill points.
Winning is 10 honors
Drawing is 5 honors(if you both achieve your objectives)
Losing is 0 honors
Deployment is Table Quarters from the main rule book.
Normal special rules are in effect, including random game length and seize the initiative.
Sportsmanship is conducted in the same fashion. Another universal special rule can be applied to a second unit.
Twilight.
3) The last battle is 1500Pts. Everyone is weary and ready for this war to come to it's end. One last battle for the survivors, as the worlds attackers and defenders hurl themselves forward in a last ditch effort across the field of mud and blood as night falls. Victory or defeat. It all will end...
This game ends when one side is gone...there will be no doubt who the victor is. There is no turn limit. It ends when one side has no units left on the table or in reserve or when time is called. When time is called, if the players have not had an equal number of
Major victory 10 honors (opponent's entire army is eliminated)
Minor Victory 5 Honors (score 300 more Victory Points than your opponent)
Tie 0 Honors. This is a time for victory or defeat, not half measures!
Loser 0 honors (tabled)
Victory points are awarded for all units destroyed or that fall back off the table. Units reduced to half strength, falling back when time is called, or vehicles immobilized or suffering a weapon destroyed result award half points. Drop pods and other immobile vehicles do not award points for immobilization.
Deployment: Pitched battle. Seize the initiative is in effect.
