im trying to make an IG veteran squad based on Bernard Cornwalls novel "Sharpe's Rifles"
i have no idea what kits to start with though and what paints to use, so if you have any ideas post them please.

2000pts IG. ( based on fallout US Army)

3000pts XIIth Legiones Astartes 8th Assault Company. (Pre heresy)

never in the field of human conflict, has so much been fired at so many, by so few.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

If you aren't worried about using GW figures, there are all sorts of metal and plastic figures available of Napoleonic British that would work.

If you did want to use exclusively GW parts, the old Mordian and Praetorian Imperial Guard regiments have uniforms reasonably close to the 95th. Or as close as you are likely to get without a lot of resculpting.

Depending on how much you want to convert, take a look here. I don't see any English infantry (though there are English Hussars) but the other niforms of the time look broadly similar, and probably close enough for an IG regiment.

What, like these guys?

If you notice, there is a skirmisher in a green uniform on the front of the box, which is exactly what you would need for a 95th figure. Unfortunately, there are only four of those models in that box, the other thirty six are line infantry, who have different uniforms and rifles. That being said, the line infantry would be good for a themed platoon or as a start for a Lasalle army...

Either the metal figures or just the skirmisher sprues would be a better option in this case. The sprue is dirt cheap, but you only have two poses. Metals aren't too bad, but depending on what else you have in your army, they will look like teenagers compared to Cadians and the like.

well the comparison thing shouldnt be too much of a problem really as i'm doing this more for a project rather than to use in an army.

Was going to suggest them myself, I buy from them a lot, they offer good kits!

Never seen the perry's minatures before. Are those the right scale to merge well with IG? If so, I might pick up some of the civil war kits, I got so many ideas that flooded in on seeing them....!

They are closer to 25mm scale than the 33-35mm most IG have crept to. They will be a bit slight compared to Cadians and Catachans, and their eyes only come up to about the collar of a Space Marine, which I am sure makes Jes Goodwin immensely satisfied.
