My wife is part of a knitting message board where they have regular "swaps." Basically, it's an excuse for people from all across the world to get/make gifts for each other. We're a fairly crafty community - albeit one that makes tiny metal spacemen rather than cozies and scarves - and we are from all across the world. Anyway, I thought it would be fun.

Here's how this will work:

Step One: I decide on a price range. Given the cost of most Infinity models, let's say $25 to $35 (American).

Step Two: I decide on some dates. Here they are:
• Sign Up Deadline: June 30th
• Ship Deadline: August 11th
• Open Date: September 1st, or when all packages have arrived, whichever comes last (this should allow everyone to use the slowest and cheapest shipping possible - tracking numbers are recommended).

Step Three: If you're interested, you comment to this thread with your faction(s), models you're particularly interested in, and any important allergies or food preferences (see below re: box contents for why). PM me with your real name and shipping address. Also, let me know if you are willing to be an angel - someone who can assemble two gift boxes if someone flakes.

Step Four: My awesome wife puts all the names in a hat and PMs you with your partner (this way I can participate, too!).

Step Five: You assemble for your partner a gift box that contains the following (keep in mind the price range!):
• At least one painted and assembled model.
• At least one item of fame and interest from where you're from.
• A postcard.

Step Six: I inform you of two important details:
• Thank-you letters are mandatory.
• Please let me know ASAP if you're going to flake so we can find an angel to replace you. There's no shame for flaking as long as you are responsible about it and let me know.

Step Seven: When everyone gets their packages, we open them on the same day and post pictures of the awesome Infinity stuff we allgot from all around the globe.

I hope we get lots of signups. I think this has the potential to be a lot of fun.

This is a pretty cool idea, sign me up.

Ariadna I already have the regular starter, mormaer, autocannon tank hunter, sniper loup-garous
HaqqIslam I'd be happy with any miniture
PanOceania I already have Military Orders starter plus Hospitalar knight

So I'd be happy with anything in those three factions and not a model I already own.

Well, it looks like using UPS I could ship something to you for about $11 at the slowest and cheapest rate. That's assuming a package of about a pound - and that's probably a high guess. I don't know if it's the same from you to me. Also, there's no guarantee that you won't be matched with someone closer to you - Infinity is a pretty international game. Don't forget that we're aiming for an "open date" of September 1st, which means that you should have no problem using the cheapest method available.

This sounds pretty awesome, but I wonder about the price range. Most man-sized models are like 10-14 bucks, and the bigger ones either come in a package that holds 2 (like remotes) or are closer to 50-60 dollars, like TAGs. Shouldn't the price range be "single blister figure" level? Like $10-20 US?

Either way, I would most definitely be up for it; any model in haqq that isn't a muyib or taureg.

I wanted to leave the price range open to include a variety of price points for local items and allow people to gift others with multiple blisters or smaller boxes if they are so inclined.

That said, this is a first ever. We'll see how it works and possibly learn from the experience.

Sounds fun. My wife does this kind of thing with her sewing group. I'm in!

Yeah - I'm going to leave it at $25 to $35. I have other people signing up on the other board, and I'm not going to change it now. We can discuss, when this is over, any changes we might want to make for a later iteration.
