I'm thinking about starting a 3rd army now and I'm thinking about getting the battalion box, but is it enough to get to 500 points? How are the knights, do you use them at all and/or viable? How do you equip them? And what about State Troops, are Halberds still the best choice?

Knights are great if you can take your time into them. I love running them 6x3 with a warrior priest. S5 with rerolls to hit and wound? 2+ armor with potential for 5+ ward? It is definitely worth the points per model.

If your starting out the new battalion is worth it. I hate the horses so I convert them. With brettonian horses but I love their point cost and effectiveness. Hell, even though I've already got quite a bit I'm thinking of getting it again to finish out my swordsman and maybe even grab a second unit of knights if I ever want to run a purely knight centric army.

Battalion box is definitely worth it. Two boxes would probably be a safe bet in the long run.

Cheers guys. But how much points do I get when I buy the battalion box? Is it enough to get to a 500 point game? I'm not really a huge fan of the knights though, so - is it possible to get 500 points from 1 hero, 20 state troops, 10 handgunners and 1 cannon?

Hmm from my basic calculations you could. 125 on general, 170 on state troopers (assuming halberds with shields with full command), 80 from missile troops, and cannon is about 495

You get 8 knights, (so, 184/200pts), 20 State Troops (120 if Halberds, 140 if Swords), a cannon (120) and a 90 for the 10 Handgunners/Xbows

so, it can be 500, pretty easy. 200 for KoIC, 120 Halberds, 120 Cannon, 90 Handgunners is 530pts.
