Alright so i was flicking through here and i saw the post on ghaz and vulkan. Thinking about that who out of all the current Marines including grey knights whos the big bad mama jammba.

My vote Draigo

Secondly whod win in a fight Draigo vs. Calgar?

Let it begin.

His in game stats don't necessarily support it but I'm going to give a nod to Ulrik the Slayer.

You don't get a nickname like that by accident.

He was taking down Khorne Berzerkers before removing Avatars and Greater Deamons became the thing to do on weekends.

I'm gonna go with Bjorn the Fell-Handed, assuming that dreds count. Ten thousand years of experiance is hard to beat, adamantite hull, massive powerfist, and assault cannon not withstanding.

As for the Draigo Vs. Calgar thing, I am lead to believe that Draigo'd get mooked fairly easily. Were this a daemonhunting contest, Draigo'd probably have the win in the bag, but we're talking about going toe to toe with the Marine who (probably) held off an entire Ork WAAAGH! for... What was it, two and a half days? I can't remember. Either way, something ridiculous. Single-handedly. He tangled with the Tyranid Swarmlord and a buttload of Tyrant Guards, and lived to tell about it. Defeated M'Kar TWICE. This is the dude who could give Ghazkul and Abbaddon a run for their money, in single combat. IMHO, Draigo doesn't have a chance.

Badass?

I'm gonna be controversial and say Sergeant Naaman of the Dark Angels, simply because he practically showed what a few marines could do and not only took information but survived until he got blown apart by a Deff Dread.

Still, MC vs Draigo? Draigo, in all logic, would have been executed long ago. But in game, I'm gonna say Draigo, because he's just broken.

I like the hero's that are usually 2nd best because they're still powerhouses in a story but don't always receive the limelight 1st class hero's do. For this reason, I'd cast my vote for Chaplain Grimaldus of the Black Templars, who saw his fame on Armageddon after fighting beneath Helbrecht (another contender for first place), where as he was fighting a massive horde of Orks, the cathedral that he was preparing to make his final stand inside collapsed on top of him. The Chaplain not only survived the catastrophic weight of a Hive sized building on top of him but continues to fight as possibly the most stubborn and enduring Chaplains of all time.

Dante's gotta be mentioned.

Widely regarded as the oldest living and active of the Astartes, this guy is easily as experienced at both army and personal levels as any one else the Space Marines can boast. Rules asides, because he fulfils a niche rather than what he perhaps deserves (more army-wide special rules and a better weapon and EW, at least.. but like I said, niche character).

At 1100 odd years old, yeah, he's pretty badass. He's the guy that Calgar, Helbrecht and Logan Grimnar would take advice from.

And lets be fair, he's been a favourite character over the years long before the likes of Draigo were even devised.

Addendum: He's also, as was his primarch before him, the iconic shining angel of the Astartes. He's the beacon of hope for mankind that even in tale warms the hearts of the common citizenry and fuels the lowliest guardsman with the pride and confidence to match any battle-hardened Space Marine. He's a living legend.

Do CSM count? Lucius the Eternal is, well, eternal. Or you can go with the old favourite Abbaddon, now with a paint to his name as well
Or possibly someone who just charges straight in. Kharn the Betrayer may kill his own guys, but he's certainly badass in a hyperactive kind of way.

If we're doing CSM as well, then props to Huron Blackheart. The Badab War was basically a mini horus heresy in its own right.. that much carnage earns you some street cred.

On top of that.. he looks like a real badass too, both Imperial and Traitor.

Fair enough. By no means is anything imperial that bad@$$, so it looks like we've found a winner!

Agreed.

Horus Lupercal.. Lufgt Huron..

Pretty sure the entire Badab war is a nod to the heresy, and how it's still totally possible in 40k.

Heh, funny thing is it didn't start out because of Chaos (to my knowledge). Darn traders cried because Huron claimed lordship over a sector of space (similar to Ultramar, he reasoned). The two other chapters of the Maelstrom Wardens force immediately came to the Astral Claws defence when other chapters were ordered to subdue Huron and his forces.

Basically, it was the Imperium's fault.

I have a feeling we'll get to use him in the 6th edition CSM codex, what with rules for firing two pistols at once having been covered in the BRB.

True enough, he basically started the heresy. But that says less 'badass' to me and more 'jerkwad'.

Abaddon isn't that great. I mean, 13 black crusades and he still hasn't gotten anywhere?

Only 12 without getting anywhere really. He's only just started the 13th, and it's looking good so far at least from his perspective.
Still, as a dark eldar player I find 12 failed raids just terrible, especially when you've got 4 whole gods behind you.

There is a line in one of ABD's books (Soul Hunter IIRC) where Talos is brought before Abbadon and he says asks Abbadon why he should obey him when 12 of his crusades have failed. Abbadon replies with something along the lines of "Who are you to judge if I failed or not? What do you know of my objectives?"

12th Black Crusade the aim was to capture Blackstone Fortresses. He got three, although one was recaptured, but then all 4 in Imperial hands self-destructed leaving him with the only 2 in existence. That was a success.

Hm, fair enough I suppose.
Still, he could've got that out of the way some time ago and gotten right down to the business of invading the imperium.
