I hate ergonomic keyboards, so none of that nonsense.

But that aside, any recommendations for a good, durable keyboard? In all of the keyboards I have thus far, the space bhar has come loose or broken eventually, and sadly, this Saitek keybaord is no exception. I would prefer one which isn't wireless, as well, but I'm willing to compromise there... if it works. Usually wireless keyboards I've tried don't work, ESPECIALLY not for gaming (the ones that sort of work often have a weird fraction of a second delay to them...).

The alienware keyboards are awesome, but a bit pricey. But you will have absolutely no problem gaming with one, and they also light up, which is pretty cool.

I guess to follow up, the part of the keyboard that is closest to you, where you rest your wrists on, has an interesting hard plastic feel. It seems pretty durable. The keyboard itself is pretty large. I say add another 4 inches from a Dell standard keyboard. The keys themselves are nice feeling. They have a bit of resistance to them. I have not used the macro keys at all so I can not comment about them.

Edit: Oh, and the most important part, the spacebar feels good.

But can the space bar last an extended use over a good amount of time? heh.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A lot of games require that I mash the space bar is probably the reason why it's not doing so hot. But still, it shouldn't be coming off after only a few months of use, like logitech and saitek keyboards do.

I'm partial to Logitech myself. Logitech anything wins in my book as far as mice and keyboards go. I've never had trouble with their stuff.

EDIT: But then I don't believe if forking up huge bucks for fancy peripherals.

Logitech keyboards suck. The way they have their space bars connected in most of their keyboards is derpy

No. I hate function buttons like that.

She could get a programmable one and just set up some macros.

Seriously though, get something with mechanical keys. Razer actually has very good products in their mech line, they don't seem to suffer from the hit and miss quality of other lines.

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder as well. Its an older model with USB ports on both ends of it for various attachments - including the numpad.

Been using it for probably 2 1/2 to 3 years - never had a problem.

I recently got a HP C7000 keyboard and mouse to replace on I (my daughter grrrr!) broke.

It's a bit pricey, rather thin but aesthetically nice. The low profile keys are different but quite user friendly. It's thin profile means you don't have to hold your wrists up as its close to the desktop and feels robust inspite of said thinness.

Had the basic Dell keyboard that you'll see in any office for about 3 years now and she's still going fine. A bit filthy though...

Well, it's arrived, now I just need to get used to its different shape and the goddamned macro keys to the left...

I used to work in a crappy LAN shop where kids can play counterstrike and we had pretty cheap keyboards for the computers

now knowing that, the spacebars would come loose once in a while after the kids put them keyboards through their paces. This doesnt happen often, and only if the kids were REALLY trying.
