Just wanted to share my new DakkaJets. Models are assembled and magnetzied to represent all 3 variants.
Reds are finalized and started the up metals. I would say that they are 50% done at this stage.

C&C very welcome!

Nice finish on the red, it is well highlighted etc, whilst still retaining that 'Orky/ rough' style- great job so far!

Quick update, slow progress so far. Most of highlights left to do, weathering and the base.

Looking good. Excellent models and a really good paint job on them. I'd love to know the technique and method for producing that red, it looks really good.

Thanks
Its quite easy actually. Its drybrushing; chaos black, Red gore, 50/50 mix red gore/blood read, blood red, 50/50 Blood red/Blazing organge.

But in order to avoid that itty gritty look that drybrushing produces you need to do "wet drybrushing" with a very thick and soft brush. (not the hard bristle drybrush that GW has) I usually add some drops acrylic thinner in order get a better viscosity of the paint. By doing this you get a look that looks very much like airbrushing
It takes som practice, but its quite easy as soon you get the hang of it. Not much harder then normal drybrushing.

That's really cool. I'll have to try it out. I normally avoid drybrushing because I don't like the dusty look it gives. From a distance I actually thought your models were airbrushed until I looked closely. I think part of the reason I've always failed at drybrushing is I've always used old tatty brushes where the bristles had gone too stiff or there weren't enough bristles.

Looking forward to see the finished models
