Hello.
I just decided that Alpha Legion will be my new army project (don't know wich codex to use yet, most likely C:CSM).
And I got some Vanguard Veterans and a jumppack chappy lying around that I want to somehow use in my new army, the only problem is that I do not know how I should go about turning them into Alpha Legionaires.
So do you guys and gals out there have any suggestions on what to do and what to field them as?

But when I get the motivation I will definitely be using regular SMs to build them. Mostly shooty, everybody infiltrating. Dark blue with purple wash, bright green helms and boots, silver trim. The less daemons the better.

Too bad you gave up, I hope you will get your motivation up.

I did a similar thing, though I converted Blood Angels into Red Corsairs. Basically all you need to do is strip any paint you can't paint over, which is easy but time consuming. You need a regular household kitchen spray/power spray (You have Fairy or YES Power Spray in Denmark, don't you?) and a toothbrush. Then spray and scrub!

If they're not painted then you might just have to file away any SM emblems, purity seals and so on, possibly replace them with Chaos emblems if you have the bits, paint them in Alpha colors and then you have CSM!

Just the paintjob does a lot to a model, as long as there are no loyalist markings left on it. They don't have to have horned helmets, but it helps complete the look. Anything spiky you can find (I use toothpick tips) just superglue it onto the armor and it'll look Chaosy.

As for the jump packs, I'd let you play them as Raptors even if they don't look as fancy as the real Chaos models. I think most players would.

That's the Alpha Legion painting forum, plenty of ideas there.

But it depends on how chaosy you want your legionnaires to be really. The Legion is known to "borrow" imperial equipment, so you can make them from vanilla sm if you so desire. We Infiltrate Everywhere! *cough* sorry.
If you go that route then removing imperial marking probably would be best.

Just about the only visual concession to Chaos the Alpha Marines make is horns, spikes and their older weapons. They're completely free from mutation or other forms of warp taint, unlike other CSM leigons.

Hell just paint a scale design on the shoulder pads and your sailing

Dont even need scales. Just take a marine from any chapter and paint a hydra somewhere on the model and you can call it an infiltrator

I think my best bet will be to trim them of all imperial insignia, pain them as Alpha Legion marines, maby some scales etc and figure out some fluff on how/where they stole those fancy new suits ^^,
