Here is a list I am going to practice for the last 5th Edition 40k tournement at our local game store. I am going to try it out tomorrow and see how the new jets work... will let you know how it works, any feedback appreciated... except for the Big Mek (I know most people don't like him kitted this way but I like him like this so will not change him)
HQ
Big Mek - Klaw, 'Eavy armour, Cybork Armour, KFF, Attack Squig, bosspole
Warboss - on bike, klaw, cybork body, bosspole stikkbombs
Elites
Burna Boyz - #13
Troops
Nobz Squad on bikes- Painboy, #3 power klaws - one bosspole, WAAGH banner, one plain, #2 with big choppas - one with bosspole all with stikkbombs
Shoota Boyz #19 with nob - with eavy armour, bosspole, pk and rokkit, one boy with rokkit
Slugga/Choppa Boyz - #11 with nob with pk, eavy armour, and rokkit and bosspole with Trukk with red paint, ram, rokkit, grot rigger, boarding plank
Fast Attack
#3 Dakka Jets - with extra supa shoota, red paint, fighta ace
Heavy attack
#2 Battle Waggons - 2 shootas, red paint, armour plates, boarding plank, deff-rolla, grot rigger
So that is the list, don't know if it is powerfull enough, wanted to try the dakka jets, but may go down to 2 instead of 3

I don't think it's powerful enough, especially for a 2K list.
The Big Mek is kit poorly. It's not that people don't like to have cool gear on their Big Mek, it's that people know it's a waste of points. You're in a tournament so streamlining in certian areas can be necessary.
Battlewagons probably only need one Big shoota each.
I don't know what your gameplan is for the Nob Bikers. Seems like a risky choice to me.
I don't think you have nearly enough Boyz.
I suggest you re-work it to get another BW and some more Boyz.

I would like to have another BW, but can't get the points for it unless I remove other squads.
The nob bikers are a troop choice, they are a death star unit, likely they will hid behind the BWs until closer and then get into CC ASAP or contest/capture objectives. The trukk/Boyz is a small squad but can deal with IG, Fire Warriors or guardians/ DA in CC, or devastator/longfangs or 5 man squads, anything bigger will be deadly to them.
I am hoping the dakka jets make up for no lootas, but the whole army is able to move well so will help with contesting objectives....

I am not arguing against you with the nobz being expensive, are they are target priority
The plus to them is that they are resilient to killing, will deal out a lot of damage and are a troops choice.. fewer bodies means less to lose which is not a good thing, but it also means I may not be losing combat by as much if I lose combat. This squad can never have its ride blown out from under it and be forced to hoof it the rest of the way and they can perform duel rolls of shooting and assault... I see your point with more boyz, but another squad of 20 boyz in a battle waggon are not going to do as much as my nobz squad will, they will survive shooting for longer, but if whittled down low enough they will falter in CC.....
I typically run foot lists, but would really like to run the Dakka Jets this tourney.... Thank you all for the posts and criticism, they have not fallen on deaf ears...

Instead of bosspoles, I would take cybork bodies on the nobs. Same price, still get allocation and a 5+ invul. The warboss riding with has the pole. Extra poles are redundant.

HQ
Big Mek - Klaw, 'Eavy armour, Cybork Armour, KFF, Attack Squig, bosspole
Warboss - on bike, klaw, cybork body, bosspole stikkbombs
Mek really only needs the KFF. Everything else is a waste on him. He will die before he gets to use it in CC, he really should get into CC anyways. But if thats the way you like him, thats you choice. The Boss Does not need the Pole or the Bombs. He has a PK so he is going last anyways. The pole you have on a nob, he can stay around longer anyways. The boss will probably be singled out in CC and die, so you lose the pole.
Elites
Burna Boyz - #13
Burnas are nice but are a really big target. I would not put the Mek in here. Makes it to big of a target then.
Nob Bikers are not as great as they used to be. You have all the psy rifleman dreads and all the Force weapons. try to keep them out of LOS as long as you can. I don't like rokkits in shootas both weapons are there for different targets. IMHO. Why not try to find the points for a 3rd BW for the slugga boys? Seems to me they are kinda weak in this list. Not to mention the trukk is way to expensive. It really only needs the ram.
Fast Attack
#3 Dakka Jets - with extra supa shoota, red paint, fighta ace
I have not used these so i can not give my opinion. Seems to be to many IMHO. Could make one of these into that BW for the second Boys squad.
Heavy attack
#2 Battle Waggons - 2 shootas, red paint, armour plates, boarding plank, deff-rolla, grot rigger
You only really need one BShoota on them. Other then that looks good.
So that is the list, don't know if it is powerfull enough, wanted to try the dakka jets, but may go down to 2 instead of 3
Anyways this is all my opinions on your list. I don't think its bad. Just abit more streamlining to do with it.

You could drop the Trukk boyz and a Dakkajet for a BW and boyz mob I think? Not sure how much Dakkajets cost, but if you needed more points you have plenty to strip off of your Big Mek. 3 Wagons, 2 Dakkajets, your deathstar...that would work well I think.

too many toys on big mek! protect em! I like the nob biker deathstar troops too, if all else fails drop them down to smaller #'s to get more boys... Drop it to 1 nob w/ pk + banner, 1 nob with PK + pole, 1 nob with big choppa, 1 painboy all with cybork... and if you are running boss with them that will boost them up enough...
Lacking ranged anti AV14... could cop out on 1 jet, pick up 3 kopters with rokkits for same price... drop some toys from mek and give some buzzsaws..
lootas are too good to pass up on.... IMO... they pop light stuff so easily/reliably, leaving rokkits/klaws to focus on tougher armor (i realized dakkajet will do this too but it draws tons of fire and dies extremely quickly.. lootas seem to not draw AS much fire, seeing as they don't quite have the tangible presence of the plane... lol (even though they are comparably dangerous!)
are you planning on holding your trukks in reserve? I have found this to be a choice thing to do since they die so easily, and them showing up on turn 2-4 and driving by /disembarking/shooting/assaulting something can really change the tide of a game.... every time I deploy them initially they get blown up so quick they never reach a target...
just my 2 teef ! may gork and mork bless your krumpability !

It depends on the mission on whether I hold the trukk in reserve of have it behind the BW with mek. I redid a list with 3 jets, 3 20boy squads shootas with 2 rokkits, nob bosspole, eavy armour, 1 trukk sluggachoppa 11 boyz plus nob with goods, 15 burna boyz Ghaz and big mek and 3 bw

This is alwys a factor for Orks. Rokkits really are not going to fix that. Buzzsaws are only str 7 on the charge so they will not help either. You just have to ignore Land raiders and moniliths when you play Orks. Or head the Warboss over there with his str 10 PK.

I agree aside from Deff-rollas, Deff-Dred or killa kan klaws, and Boss PK we have nothing S10, so landraiders and monoliths are hard to crack. I played a game in a tourney and they had 2 land raiders in the list. I killed everything except the LR, but did win the match. another one I had killed everything but a LR and 1 scout inside...

True. I overlooked the Rollas for sure. But not every list has the Rollas in it.
But I guess the same can be said about the Boss. I know I hardly use him.
So how many Nobs are in your sqaud? I am counting 8. Is that right? You really could drop them down to about 6. Take the extra points and add more boys. You also don't really need 3 PK in with them. 2 pretty much does the job. Again stikk bombs are pretty pointless. You are not going to want to assault with bike in cover anyways. No use in taking the chance to take wounds when you don't need to.
Just thought of this after I looked at your list again.

You are right... stikkbombs are likely not useful
I ran a list tonight without the nob bikers, ran 2 shoota boyz 20 in BW, 1 BW with big mek, burnas, ghaz, 1 trukk with 12 orks inc nob, 3 dakka jets... went pretty well

This was in one BW together?
Thats not a very good idea. The reason being is its a really big target. I would fire everything at this BW until it died. From everything else you don't have room to put either of the IC's if it did blow up. I would make room for them to be in one of each of the BW's with the boys. It would be 100% better in the long run. IMHO.
I hope that makes sense. lol Its late.
How did the Planes do? I am not sold on them yet. I have yet to try them out.

Thanks for the advice man... I put the BW with the boyz in front of the BW with Burnas, Big mek forming a T, then had a dakka jet to either side of the burna waggon and one behind. The way the mission was (capture and control) I had my 11 man squad deployed on the objective and the trukk was empty. I hid it behind a building (it did have a rokkit and it could contest - use what you got right). I had first turn, but he managed to steal initiative... He shot mainly at the dakka jets, immobilized one, took a weapon off one and immobilized it. On my turn I got my big mek out and fixed the dakka jet that had all its weapons, the BW with burnas blocked LOS and the boyz moved forward with Trukk flat outing to behind terrain again. The dakka jet performed okay, but without the Big mek would have been krumped ASAP... Jury is still out on them in my opinion.... I am not sure about them. They did keep fire off my bw which managed with deffrollas to kill 2 vindicators, one Landraider and a landspeeder, cause 1 squad of marines to loose moral on tank shock, so they were all stars and 2 were alive at the end of the game. The burna boyz and ghaz hung back to protect my objective but did take out 2 rhinos and a tac squad, my trukk contested the objective and mine was not contested so I won... my boyz could not get to the objective but kept 2 dreads, termies, a tac squad and vulcan busy the whole game...

ai love nob bikers, its just their point eaters, also I think if you do use them then cybork is a must, when you say #3 does that mean the third nob or three nobs?, if it is the later of the too then that is too big of a squad, thats squad is like a 4th of your list then and one lucky stength 8 pie plate will wipe out too many of them, I like small squads, max 5 with warboss

Warboss on bike with PK and other goodies
Big mek with kff, burna
10 nobs w/ 2 PK, 2 bc, 2 kombi skorcha, painboy and all the goodies in a battlewagon with deff, ap, riggers,bs
5 nob bikers with 2 PK,2 bc, painboy and waaagh banner
10 burnas in battle wagon with ap, deff, bs
12 boys w/ nob,PK,bp in trukk x3
Dakka jet with extra supa shoota, fighta ace
And small grot squad Automatically Appended Next Post: P.s. I tabled mech heavy smurfs, and space wolfs. Had bit of trouble with a DOA BA list but survived

I don't see how. I am not a fan of that list at all. The nob squad is rediculously hugh. Then you have Nob bikers as well. Lot of points in those 2 squads. Must not be any GK players for you to worry about ID'ing all of your Nobs.
I guess if it works. But not a fan at all.

That army function in a simple way. Almost everything except for the wagons moves hellaciously fast I can move 12 with 80% of my army and the shooting they put out is nothing to scoff at and also we had 3 out of 16 playing gk and they were placing 6th, 9th, and 10th. They are not unbeatable you just have to be smarter than the codex first off then after that playing the army well and not changing every game helps you learn how to play to their strengths and shore up weaknesses I know how pally function so I play to their weakness. I don't bombard 10 nobs at 5 pally and expect to win. I drive circles around them spraying with shoota and big shootas till they are boy manageable. Depending on boys to shore up your weakness is a weakness in itself. Play more than 5 game with a dedicated thot out list use UNITA for there purpose an hope the dice gods favor you. Sony dog a list unless you know they will never get anything done ( like a list based on grots)

I never said GK's were unbeatable. But I also now how people play them around me. Lots of Dreads with str 8 guns. That is ID to nobs that fail saves. Even on bikes.
I don't assault with my Orks so yes I know you shoot the GK's to death. With you dropping some of those Nobs though you can in turn get more for you points thus have more shots going to the GK's. Or any other army for that matter.
Just because they came in 6th, 9th and 10th really doesn't mean anything to me. They were either bad players, had some bad luck with dice, or just got screwed by mission or the other players army. There are alot of ways that they could have been in the bottom.

True it does depend how well you play, though I think with GK you can be a mediocre player and still do well. At my local tourneys they are usually in the tape 10 places, we usually have 2-3 players per tournement so I am glad we don't have a ton of them playing around here. We actually have a number of chaos space marine players, which besides Abbadon, they are just marines as far as Orks are concerned... We have a decent amount of IG players and Marines of various flavors, a few Eldar and between 2-3 Orks per tourney. Cheers all

We have pretty much everything under the sun. Even Sisters! We don't do tourneys that much as we don't like tourneys. The system is not really built for tourneys in our opinions.
I used to go back in 3rd to tourneys alot. I actually won the first "ard boys" back in VA when it was just a local thing. Have trophy and everything. But the seen is so different now. There really is now having fun, meeting people vibe. Its I want to win and get cool prizes and I don't care about anything else vibe. That is just not how I like to play. So that is why I stopped going around the start of 5th. I did play in ard boys last year, boy that was amistake. lol
But I understand that people like that scene, but its not for me.

We have pretty friendly and flavored tourney scene. We play at the GW bunker in Memphis and it is always a blast but yes it is difficult to have a reliable tourney with 40k but my ork always do really well in this meta and I support a similar playstyle to the above list but 40k is 70% fluff and hobbying and 30% comp for me but my fluff based speed freaks do really well having never placed below 5th in my meta vs. IG,gk,ba,smurfs, tyranid and long fang sPam wolfs. I am proud of them. But to iterate a point I don't want to miss. Play your orks anyway you want to till you have an army built to your playstyle. Mine is strong due to knowing how to assess threat and apply appropriate force with the unit I like and use

I agree. The first tourneys I played in were back before even 2nd edition came out, and then it was more about fun and meeting people and more emphasis was put on painting. It has gotten more competitive, but I still think there is plenty of comraderie out there. I do find myself stressing sometimes at tourneys, but then I tell myself, "remember you are doing this to have fun, it is just a game after all." The people I actually have the least fun playing are the ones that are so serious and competative, that it makes the whole game not fun, sometimes they don't even know the game that well to begin with. I would much rather have a game where I got beat, but had a good time, vs a game where I won, but the people were being jerks...
I did have a player tell me once, "you can list build all you want, but in the end you have to have fun it. If you like the list you are playing with you are going to have more fun and probably do better as well.." Since then I have done just that and have been happy with the results...
That is why with my Eldar I run Harlequins, because I love playing them and I do well with them... With the Orks it is funny, there are so many choices and there are great foot and mech lists to build. I actually prefer foot lists, but with the new dakka jets I am liking mech again...
It is funny in our local area we have quite a strong 40k crowd and many people have multiple armies, so you never know what they are going to bring to the table....... Cheers all
