You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood. |

None of those listed would win, since they are all fictitious characters.

I don't know anything about newcron fluff, so i'll skip this one.
Asdrubael Vect-----VS------Marneus Calgar
Vect. I'm just sure he could make the sacrifices better, and find the more cunning options.
Draigo--------VS-------Ahriman
Ahriman would win, because Dragio would be far too busy trying to figure out how to carve something on the enemy king with his sword without cutting the damn thing in half
Ork Nob-------VS------Hormagaunt <---lol?
Nobz have fingers, and would thus ba able to throw the peices at the hormagaunt faster.
And that's how it would go.

One question I have for the Nob vs. Hormagaunt: is the Hormagaunt in Synapse Range, cause I think the Hive Mind would be a pretty solid chess player.

Nahh, the way I picture it is that Peturabo would set up a castle that Dorn would charge against only to discover that the King isn't there and that he in fact has landed all of his pieces in an inescapable Iron Cage and would then call in Guilliman to bring his pieces over to save him.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

why do people assume and insist orks are stupid.. they in the fluff are certainly odd but not dumb they are more dedicated specialists who use thier brains mostly for destruction. heck even the precious imperium can't figure out how some ork tech works like the SAG.
but i assume the ork has no inttest in chess and squishes the hermagaunt as that would be more fun

I don't know man, from my reading of the fluff it seemed like the only orks that were considered intelligent were the ones had the knowledge ingrained in them, like Big Meks and the Docs. I don't think we found one of the orks who has ingrained knowledge of chess, I figured it was just any ork.
Also I kinda thought that the whole reason the Imperium can't figure out how ork technology works is because it kinda doesn't work. At least it shouldn't. I could have sworn it mentions somewhere that the only reason ork tech works is because orks believe it works, and thus by that believing it is so.

The "intelligent" Orks are born with the knowledge of how to make these things. They don't acquire it and some are born knowing how to build Trukks etc. The closest thing to ingenuity is that an ork makes a BIGGER Trukk obviously there are examples like the Tellyportas and things like that but in general I don't think they even get a grasp on Chess

The main thing here, OT-wise, is that it is assumed that a hormagaunt WOULD be smart enough to know the rules... because a mindless bug who cannot do anything but feed on it's own is somehow intelligent enough to know the rules...
