That's a lot of skeletons for an army with no master of the dead, I'd defiantly find a way to free up the points for that if I were you.

Meh, Master of the Dead allows me to add to the skeleton units, I am not so much concerned about adding to, as I am replenishing.
I am probably updating this later today to drop the Fear bomb and play around with it. I need something to deal with trolls.

Ogre blade on your vamp would deal with trolls nicely : )

For dealing with ogres and trolls you may want to get some crypt horrors or vargheists.

Out of Interest why shields instead of GW's

Originally had Corpse cart for ASF. However, could not fit Corpse Cart and do not have the points remaining for Great Weapons.

So... I took this list and first faced Daemons getting curbstomped pretty badly and then against Tomb Kings where the battle was more or less a draw despite the hammering I took. My Vampire Lord (or Viscount Cosmina Von Templehof, for anyone reading my fluff section) apparently is not yet ready to take the field considering that with quickblood, red fury, and the Ogre Blade, managed MAYBE 7 wounds total between two games. However, I do not think it was her so much as it was my dice HATING me for some reason. Anyways, I am modifying the list by dropping most of the Core and the Coven Throne, adding a second Necromancer, a 40 block horde of Ghouls (with a 35 block of skeletons and a 20 block of zombies for core), and 3 Vargheists.

Why heavy armour and armour of destiny? That still only leaves him with a 5+ armour save

Sorry, Typo. Heavy Armor should not have been on there. It is Shield and Armor of Destiny for a 4+/ 4++

Rivet youre right zombies suck. Run only the bare min for core and try to make core actually killy. Statistically the best core are horde skele with spears and ghouls. However they do lose combat most of the time but not as bad. Put fighty heros in core the other spec rare units can handle them selves in combat.
Chaos is also a bad match up. Your ethereal are zombies against them. I prefer huge hord of skeles 50-60 with spears and ghouls cuz they actually can kill things.. May want to use partial fear bomb in skeles ex banner and majesty. Ive seen battles on line against chaos and they ate ethereal and the coven throne. I feel your pain. Their magic phases are crazy good. I dont go into battle without a dispell scroll tho. Its a auto include. Also may need to think out side the box on this one. They are aware of our tactics and know our weakness. I wouldnt go with standard raise and lock tactic any more it worked in 7th when ghouls were 8 pts but now not so sure.
I ran several dual lord lists against dub slann and just could not get there. I experimented with hero vamps with lore of shadows with book of arkhan and staff of damn in units. Bouncing them around can be useful also can save your gen.
I did have success with decked out vamp lord and hero vamp with shadow and book of arkhan and lvl2 nec with dispell scroll tomb banshee. My tactic was to get aura of d maj vamp into combat asap then banshee and gheist the hell out of them. Bounce gen in if need be. The good book heals too. I actually dont rely to much on magic anymore we just dont have the omnipotence we used to. Only way we get more power dice is to play death lore or peripat? Ive gone fighty vamps with scroll caddy. I cast only IoN to heal character and unit. Thats about it

I have made many tweaks to this and will be posting a revised list later today. I disagree with skeletons with spears, I have never had them do better with skeletons with shields. I have had the parry actually matter in a combat outcome. I have recently switched tactics with my magic, moving to a Master Necromancer with Lore of Death to be my main magic.
