Alright, so I've got 10 sanguinary guard, totally bitchin' models to look at, but have never painted them before. I've read and watched numerous guides and tutorials, but they are all using older edition citadel paints, and I'd like to know what people picked to make the optimal paintjob for sanguinary guard. I'm not what you'd call anything like a competition painter or commissions painter, but I am pretty ambitious when it comes to improving my technique (and have made pretty decent progress). If you wish to suggest Army painter paints or any other brands as well, that's welcome too.

I don't know if you have seen that tutorial or not, but I think it's pretty good. I have some of those paints and they are wonderful.

And some, I assume, are good people."

I'm also looking into getting good yellows to paint the helmets of my ASM. Any ideas, Dakka? I've yet to paint them and I know that yellow is hard to get right with models.

for the SG just use the Citadel golds! the gold base, layer and drybrush are pretty good and give a nice aged golden look!
then just paint the scrolls with that dheneb stone variant, add some red and black accents and your done

I made a blog entry just for painting gold, my original goal was to get the recipe correct before I started my Sanguinary Guard. You might find it helpful.
