Hey everyone, I recently sold my Menoth army, and was looking into reinvesting the money I got for it into mercs. My only question is, what warjacks/casters/solos are worth taking?

As for contracts/factions, I was looking into either the Four-star Syndicate or the Highborn covenant so I can use them with my Khador and Cygnar armies.

So, what should I get?

Magnus and eMagnus are good to start with. One thing to
consider is that these two models are the only ones that can
use Renegades, a light warjack that can fire a rocket only
once a game. However, that rocket is AOE 4 and knocks
down models in its area of effect.

If you go with Ashlynn, you will be making a precision army
with the potential for having lots of infantry. With Ashlynn you
start with a Mule and some Gun Mages with the Officer. I
don't build good lists with her, but I'd also then consider
Forgeguard and maybe a Nomad or one of the pirate 'jacks.

Remember, if you plan on playing competitively, Mercenaries
are considered a single faction as a whole, so be prepared to play
more than one contract and/or theme force.

Mercenaries are an odd bunch with several starting points and subgroups. Playing what you are likely to play in your main factions is a good start, I play cygnar and highborn and love the overlap. Your warcaster won't matter too much since merc casters are rather strong in general, but they will dictate your jacks some since magnus will want two renegades and the rhulic casters need their own jacks.
Do you have any mercenaries or allies for your existing factions?

With Mercs Nomads are your bread and butter unit, cheap, fairly durable and with a noticable punch, that's about it from them though besides having reach. Mules are handy as they have the same power on their weapon as a defender (not quite the range but it does have an AOE) can't say much about the rover, I like it but haven't used it.

I like talons, 4 point jack with stall and the sheild makes it last a fair while too.

Manglers = win, 'nuff said.

You may want to consider some of the pirate Jacks to as they can be taken with the non pirate casters and vice versa, rhulic stuff has to be taken with a rhul caster unfortunatly though.

Solos are really dependant on which caster you pick as to how useful they are, There are a few with Jack marshall so those could be worth looking into to make your focus go that bit further. Rutger shaw for instance.
