I've briefly read over some of the Ork background and since they being their life by breaking out of a fungus spore, I think it would be interesting if it were possible to have a unit that spawned core units. Maybe not full strength Boyz, but something weaker that compensates with numbers.

Thoughts?

Don't orks makeup for their weak stats by numbers anyway? Baby orks would have to number in the hundreds...

1 spore has a chance to grow ino either an ork, gretchin, snotling, fungus (like a 'shroom) and I THINK squigs

so you would have to have a random chance...

The Combat application is very minimum , in it's weakend spore state it would be easily dispatched with something similar to even the Lasgun ( which in it's own right iw powerful weapon against human sized targets ) would be able to kill it very easily

Hmmmph, not sure. A ork would release tons of spores, showing that realistically without blocking the board would be rather not in the fluff spirit.

Either way it's good, perhaps something like a spore field, where you get 4D6 of something determined by a D6.

Like 1-2 Fungus 3 Snotlings 4 Gretchin 5 Squigs 6 Orks.
The fungus would make the area terrain dangerous.

There we go. I like that idea...I was just throwing out ideas to see if they actually made sense. I'm pretty new to 40k and not real familiar with the fluff...I just like to run and kill stuff.

Like the creep from starcraft? That has a chance every turn to grow something or grow in size that gives you more spores and more chances to gain units? I like it! And I think the "baby" orks from everything I've read are still just as able to fight as a normal boy...I mean have you ever heard of a boy who couldn't fight and win? I didn't think so.

That's actually a pretty fun idea that you created there. My only issue that i have with it is that i would have to paint a whole bunch more models to accommodate what could be potentially spawned lol

Not shooting it down as a game idea, which could be fun, but fluff wise it takes months to years for ork spores to create new orks.

In the fluff the spores grow fungal colonies. When they are big enough they start generating ork flora (various mushrooms) and fauna (squigs of various descriptions). Once the fungal colony is mature enough to support them grots begin to spawn, and further develop the area.

Finally, once the biological infrastructure has been established, full orks will spawn. First the boyz to tame the area, the the various support orks like Mek boyz, weird boyz, cooks, brewers, and the like.

Don't think of it like spawning tyranid style, but as rapid terra forming. The ork fungus is self sustaining: first preparing the land, then generating food and shelter, then servants, then boyz, then war infrastructure, then the WAAAGH! It generates everything from the bio-dome, to the food supply, to the slave labor, to the military-industrial complex.

Neat idea, sounds fun, I'm in no way trying to discourage it's use in games, but it isn't fluffy. Ork spores don't just spawn orks. They spawn ecosystems. Then orks.

No.

I can't envision the timeframe of spore generation and development happening in the few minutes that a battle represents. Each round represents such a small amount of time...
