Land Speeders are great. With MM / HF and vulkan, they can kick some butt for only 70 points. And at 2k points, you can squeeze alot of them in.
I advise 3 tactical squads and 1 scout squad at 2k, OR 4 tactical squads. Otherwise you get crippled in Objective based games. Sniper Scouts can sit on back objective with Camo Cloaks, and have decent survivability, and because they are cheap, you dont have to worry about forking out 200 or so points for Tac squads. The Tac squads you do take, will each need a rhino. Preferably MM, Flamer, Combi-wep OR Power Fist. That will put you around 210-230 points for each tactical squad.
AOBR dreads (thats MM / DCCW right?), should have a Drop Pod. Get that melta nice and close for turn 1 suicide squad. At 2k points, you can afford to lose a Dread and wont / shouldn't be too affected by the lose. Hopefully, you can make your points back in taking out a LR or something else. Would only advise 1 suicide dread, if you do two, you lose around 300 points. Not good, especially if you fail to take out something.
Assault termies in a LR with Vulkan is a 100% solid choice. Is it a normal LR? you dont specify. Dont worry if it isn't a LRR, TLLC would well if taking out tanks as you move closer, in fact, it might be better to have a normal LR...
You have 2 captains, it might be fun to run the Termie captain in the LR deathstar, but i think a Librarian might serve you better. YMMV.
What next? well, its entirely up to you where you go with it. Wether you buff up the core of your list with more Tac squads or you start to branch out and get some LS, either way, they will eventually get you to 2k points.
As for holding out untill 6th ed, dont worry about that. It comes out on saturday, unless you're super anxious to buy something in the week, just think over some of the feedback you get here, and when you have the new rulebook, make that decision then.
