Pile of Necron Spare Parts

Southeast Texas

Just realized I posted in the wrong part of the forum.
So I'll repost here and figure out how to delete the old one.
Anyway, this is my army right now.
And please, if you're gonna give me a low score, at least tell me why. I can't improve it if I don't know what "it" is.

Warriors

One of my Warriors.

Blood on the axe.

The base.

My Scarabs swarms.

One of the swarms.

The Deathmarks.

One of the Deathmarks.

Back of the Deathmark.

Synaptic Disintegrator. Messed up painting it. Will fix next time I get some Necrons.

Trazyn the Infinite.

His cloak.

You may be wondering, "What are those?"

My dice and tape measure. Nice, huh? The dice case is based off the Summonig Core from Dark Crusade. I thought it would look cool, plus it can be used as a piece of scenery.

The army.

And that's everything for now. I finally got a job a couple of days ago. Need to get a laptop first, but after that, I'll have some money for new Necrons. Gonna get some Lychguards first.

Personally i'd give it a 3.5. There are no signifagant conversions and I notice the paint needs to be watered down and applied in multiple coats.

You have a stack of mold lines left on the minis, the paint scheme is ok but some areas it looks a little thick. The lord seems a little flat maybe using some washes would help add depth. Oh! and the photos are a little bit out of focus

but i like the bases

What do y'all mean by conversions? And the mold lines? Could y'all point those out to me? (I think I know, but I wanna be sure.)
And yeah, I could have painted Trazyn a little better, but I didn't want to paint one part and end up screwing up another. (My hands shake. A lot.)
And why would I need multiple coats? I'm not saying they're amazing or anything, but other than the white (which I'm gonna fix), I thought it looked alright.
Oh, and blame Apple for the crap photos. Apparently iPhone cameras can't zoom in, so I have to take pics from an inch away from the models.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I don't know what iPhone you are using, but my 4S takes great pictures. Look in my gallery and most of those were taken by my phone while the mini was sitting my desk. Anyways...

I gave you a 5... I've seen better, but I have also seen way, way worse. Things of note:

- Paint is way too thick... Specially on the purple. Work with thin paint in multiple layers. Yes, it takes longer but the end result does not make your mini look like it took a bath in paraffin wax.
- The colors have lots of bleeding. If your hands shake (most do), brace them against the edge of your desk. Mount the model with blue tack on something easier to hold (I use and have used: paint pot, wine bottle cork, empty medicine bottle, etc.). Barring that, hold the model in one hand, brush in the other, and hold your hands together at the wrist.
- The idea of the base is great in theory but poorly executed. When you are done with the toxic slime, paint the rim of the base in a coordinating color. If the main color of the base is black, use dark grey for example.

What they mean by "conversions" is a change to the model to make it different than the way it came. It can be as simple as a head swap or as complex as re-sculpting entire portions of it. I have no experience with Necrons, but with my marines, I do minor conversions to every squad; cut arms apart to reposition them the something more dynamic, add different bits from my bits box, etc. I pretty much make them look like they are actually doing something instead of looking like a bunch of dudes standing around.

I forgot to add something... Don't take what myself or anyone else has said personally. It happens often; guy paints something he is proud of, posts it on a forum, get's flamed hardcore, nerdrages, ends poorly. You should be proud of any work you do because you took the time to do it. Lots of people don't even do that. I will make two assumptions here and I may be wrong on both so I apologize in advance: You are either young, inexperienced, or both (or non of the above too, I suppose). If you are young, don't worry, you'll get better over time. If you are inexperienced, don't worry, you'll get better the more you practice. No one wins Golden Daemon the same month they pick up a brush. Hell, I've been painting for 6 months and what I do now blows my "early" work out of the water. The best part about this hobby is you will always get better. Take what people say and use it. Keep your head up, you will get better... It just takes time.

Gave a 4, and that was being generous. I don't say that to cause offence, but there's a few major errors you've made.

1. They lack depth overall. The colours are flat and clash into one another very harshly. You need to tidy up the lines and add some drybrush and highlight details to divide up the scheme.

2. The paint is WAY too thick in many places. You need to be more patient with your technique and water down your paints a little before slapping it on like that.

3. The Summoning Core is messy as hell and really needs a tidy up, something that wouldn't take 5 minutes. I can see what you were going for, but again you need to slow down and plan what it is you're doing.

4. Those Scarab bases are a mess. Again, it's an easy touch up that will make it look 10 times better.

Practise makes perfect.

I gave a five, as although I like the colour scheme, the actual painting is a little sloppy. It's a bit think in places and need touch-ups, the scarab bases in particular.

Other than that, nice, though I echo what has been said before. I've only just started painting myself so I know how you feel, but practice makes perfect, or so I tell myself.

EDIT: I also just noticed in some areas the plastic is showing through. After painting a model give it a look over to see if you've missed anything, also, consider a basecoat/priming.

A gave a three I'm sorry to say.
It's quite thick goes over the boundaries and seems to only been two-three tones...

I gave it a five, a good start. Next, work on cleaning it up, then find ways to add more detail and effects.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Gave a four...Good ideas behind a lot of it but as it has been said, the execution isnt very good Im afraid..T
The cape on trazyn looks alright though I do say
As well as that, if those green rods are glued in thats impressive as they have no glue marks on them whatsoever.

I gave you a four, the scheme is nice but the execution could do with more practice. A Lot of your paints need thinning down and done in layers to prevent the clumps building up. Both the metal and the purples could do with highlighting to make it pop a little more and the green is either messy or needs a brighter centre if its OSL.

That may seem like alot of negative but the models are well put together, the colour choice is unique and doesnt shy away from varying from metal/metal necrons and I like the theme of the bases.
